The PACE Centre is a UK-registered charity and special school based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, UK. It helps children and young people with motor disorders, such as cerebral palsy.
Pace is a specialist charity that is committed to ensuring that children with neurodisabilities have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential in life and can take their place in the world. At Pace School, your child is at the heart of everything they do. The Pace approach, developed over 30 years of working with children with neurodisabilities, focuses on what your child can do (not what they can’t).
Pace School offers early years, primary and secondary provision spanning two school sites. There are many options for your child, and they will discuss these with you. The aim is to facilitate the right pathway of education for your child. For some children, a full-time school placement at Pace may be right. For others, a part-time dual placement may be more appropriate. That might be a long-term arrangement or a stepping stone towards full-time inclusion in a mainstream school or another special school.
Selection Criteria: Selective
If you’ve made an enquiry to Pace School or been referred, an admissions assessment will be arranged. This will be carried out by team of specialist teachers and therapists. If the assessment team believe your child’s needs can be met at Pace, and a place is available, you (and your local education authority, if relevant) will be notified. Provisional places can be offered for nursery-aged children in Early Years provision, or for school-age children within Pace School.
There are two ways a child can secure a place at Pace School:
