Aylesbury High School
0.52 miles
The school is a diverse, inclusive non-selective upper school that serves the town of Aylesbury. The students and staff at The Grange School make it a fantastic place to work. The students are friendly and confident and they strive to ensure they achieve the success they deserve. Together they have created a thriving community school. They believe in developing the whole child. While academic achievement is important and makes a difference to the lives of young people, they recognise the wider talents of students and place value in celebrating and sharing in their successes.
The extra curricular programme is both successful and well developed. Clubs are run in the following activities:
Clubs are run by staff or student volunteers and as such may be subject to change with some clubs being removed or additional clubs being added to broad offering. All these clubs are open to all students. Football, cricket, basketball, badminton, rounders, athletics and netball teams compete regularly, with some considerable success, in league and cup fixtures. In addition to these after school clubs, inter-form competitions are run during lunchtimes, allowing students in each year to compete against other form groups at a variety of activities. Lunchtime year clubs are also organised, allowing those who just wish to enjoy an activity, without having to compete, the opportunity to participate in sport.
Selection Criteria: Selective
As a Foundation School and part of Aylesbury Learning Partnership, The Governing Body of The Grange School becomes the Admissions Authority and is responsible for the decisions on admissions to the school. Advice from the Department for Education has made it clear that they expect to offer the highest priority of admission to all children adopted from care (as opposed to only those adopted from care under the 2002 Children Act and after). Therefore reference to the 2002 Act in the definition of a qualifying looked after child should be ignored, all children adopted after being in care irrespective of the timing will qualify under the clause for the councils admissions process.
