Loyola Preparatory School is Independent Primary school in Essex for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Boys )
Loyola is a Catholic Independent School in Buckhurst Hill, Essex for boys aged 3 to 11 which bases it's characteristics and ethos on the basis of Ignatian education. With a high teacher to pupil ratio, the school focuses its teaching techniques to focus on how boys learn best. These practices encourage greater stimulation and enjoyment which is clearly demonstrated by the boys’ overall behaviour and academic results, with many leading to multiple scholarship offers. All teaching staff are fully qualified and commited to furthering the natural curiosity in each child. Working alongside our teaching staff, every class is supported by a dedicated teaching assistant who is fundamental in encouraging the boys to flourish in confidence and independence.
Key Stage 1
Following on from this they transition into Key Stage 1 (ages 5 to 7) and a more formal style of learning. Here they are introduced to specific subject areas, such as History, Geography, PSHE, the Arts and introducing specialist teachers.
Key Stage 2
In Key Stage 2 (ages 7 to 11) each class is divided into smaller groups when learning English and Maths, with a dedicated teacher for each of these subjects. This allows for pupils to work at a pace which will continually challenge them and advance their learning. The KS2 curriculum expands further to include German as a Modern Foreign Language, Latin and Non-Verbal/Verbal Reasoning.
Activities
To add to the broad academic curriculum, we recognise and develop the range of talents our boys have which include sports (tennis, swimming, football, rugby, sailing, trampolining, hockey to name a few), choral (choir and Schola) and creativity (chess, imagineering, lego, sketching and animation).
