Knutsford Academy is leading State Secondary school in Knutsford. This is a Non-selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Mixed.
Based in the heart of the historic town of Knutsford we offer secondary education to over 1200 students aged from 11 to 18 years old. Students joining us in Year 7 spend their first year at the Westfield Drive site settling into life at Knutsford Academy. We welcome students from an extensive range of local primary schools both from within Knutsford but also the local area including Northwich and south west Manchester. In Year 8 students then move to the main site at Bexton Road through to Year 11 and the Sixth Form. They have extraordinary students here and a talented group of staff, who work hard together to deliver our vision of academic excellence, a strong community and world-class opportunities. We have an enviable track record in preparing our young people for higher education and the world of work, which is strengthened even further with our Studio School that provides a range of options to support students who would like to progress to an apprenticeship.

Key Stage 3
Key Stage 3 students follow a broad and balanced curriculum which combines a strong core subject experience with specialist teaching in a range of creative and performing arts disciplines. French or Spanish are studied as languages and the full range of Humanities subjects are offered. The scope of subjects offered allows students a full choice of subjects in Year 9 as they select their GCSE options.
Key Stage 4
This course is intended to develop understanding and ability within the subject area of 3 dimensional design. The students will be set a range of exciting projects to develop creative and imaginative thinking. The course offers an exploratory approach to materials, techniques and processes associated with 3 dimensional design.Each project is underpinned by visual research and design development across 2 and 3 dimensions. The projects provide a broad, structured learning experience whilst also preparing for the terminal exam (an extended candidate-initiated piece of work). Final assessment will be based upon an exhibition set up by the candidate.
Sixth Form
The Sixth Form is a thriving community with students joining us not only from the Academy but also many other schools across the local area. We offer an open entrance policy encouraging students of all abilities and we will work closely with you to ensure the most appropriate subjects options are chosen to meet your own needs.They have a long history of excellent academic success with the highest quality of teaching and support to guide our students through the Sixth Form. The majority of our students progress to university and we also have extensive links with businesses offering extensive opportunities in the working world and apprenticeships.

If you wish to apply for a place in Year 7 at The Academy you must apply through your own home authority (e.g. Cheshire East for Cheshire East residents and Trafford for Trafford residents etc.) For admissions into Year 7 all parents receive formal letters from their Local Education Authority. The final date for applications is the end of October. Places will be allocated according to our Admissions Policy.
