Description

Greenford High School (abbreviated as GHS) is a mixed 11-19 secondary school with a comprehensive intake located in the London Borough of Ealing. Greenford High is a dynamic yet disciplined place to learn. Over the last decade they have consistently achieved outcomes that have placed us in the top 5% for student progress. We aim for all of our students to achieve excellent academic results which will enable them to go on to university or apprenticeships. Indeed, many gain places at top Russell Group universities, well-equipped to study a wide array of courses ranging from Medicine, Engineering and Law to the Arts. Yet we are also an inclusive, truly comprehensive school which accepts every type of student and tries to get the very best out of them, whatever their ability or personal circumstances. This philosophy is at the core of what Greenford High is all about.

Features

Things to note

EXTRA-CURRICULAR
At Greenford High School we believe education goes way beyond lessons. We like to encourage our students to get involved in as many extra-curricular activities as possible. Whether you want to compose a symphony, get fit, take on the issues of the world through the power of speech or engineer a racing car, there’s something here for you.

MUSIC
Instrumental lessons are available at an extra cost and are taught in small groups with a specialist teacher. The instruments available are drum kit, piano, keyboard, guitar, violin, flute, vocal, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and clarinet. As well as instrumental lessons students take part in a variety of extracurricular clubs including junior and senior choir, keyboard club, string ensemble, jazz band, percussion ensemble, orchestra and a variety of rock bands and guitar groups. These groups are given the opportunity to perform at a variety of events including the musical production, popular music concerts and many more.

TRIPS
Some of the best learning takes place outside the classroom at museums, galleries, on field trips or performances. They typically run over 150 trips a year to everywhere from a Dorset beach to the British Film Institute. Trips abroad include incredible opportunities to visit and forge links with schools in Japan, China, Spain, Germany and France.

LIBRARY
The Library at Greenford High School is for all students to use. When students join Greenford High School, they automatically become a member of the library. They are given a barcode sticker, which is stuck on the front of their planner - this barcode is their library card. When students want to borrow a book they must bring their planners and the book to the librarians, who will scan the barcodes. The date when the book is due back will always be stamped in the library book.
