Acresfield Academy is State Primary School for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Acresfield Academy is a one form entry primary school, with a 26 place nursery for children aged 3 and 4. All of the classes are named after an animal from Chester Zoo, as they are situated next to the zoo in Upton. They can even hear the animals being fed at different times of the day! You may be considering joining them and they would welcome you to visit the school and see what life at Acresfield is like. They work very closely with our families, friends and local community and have put the community at the heart of the curriculum. They want the children to understand what it means to be a responsible member of our own local community and as a citizen in modern day Britain.
Curriculum
The intent outlines our determination to ensure all of the children are equipped with the basic skills they need to support them as they transfer to high school and to enable them to succeed in life. It also outlines the value they place on preparing the children for life in modern day Britain, so they understand what it is to be a responsible citizen. This includes an understanding of the issues facing the planet and the individual’s responsibility in taking the steps needed to preserve it. It also focuses on life in multi-cultural Britain and what that means and how everyone can make a positive contribution by showing respect for people from different backgrounds and with different religions and beliefs. It is a carefully thought out curriculum that they believe provides the children with the best possible start to their education.
Special Educational Needs, Disability [SEND] and Inclusion
Inclusion lies at the heart of Acresfield Academy. It is central to the core professional purpose: ‘An inclusive community that challenges and inspires its children in a creative and engaging way, laying the foundations for life’ This means that we want the following outcomes for the children with additional needs or formally identified on the SEND register. Children will achieve excellent academic outcomes across the curriculum to be working in line with national expectations or in line with their own individual targets. Children will acquire the knowledge and skills across the curriculum to prepare them fully for the next stage of their learning. Children will be given a broad range of opportunities and experiences within our curriculum offer and as part of our enrichment programme in order to secure their personal development. We are committed to overcoming barriers to learning. The work was recognised with the award of the Inclusion Mark.
Clubs
They are delighted to welcome Wendy back into school to run the hand chimes club. This is open to all children from Otters class to Jaguars class. It will take place after school on a Thursday. They are looking forward to hearing some wonderful sounds emanating along the corridor! Join Mr Dixon on a Monday after school to develop your times tables. This exciting club will provide a variety of ways to improve your times tables confidence. A lunchtime club for children working on their Acres Award will be run by Miss Hutchinson. This will give the children a chance to work on their award and receive support and ideas from Miss Hutchinson.
