What first strikes visitors to our school is a palpable sense of community. The atmosphere is vibrant, purposeful and very friendly. Relationships are strong and supportive. There’s always a lot going on and, to an extent which is perhaps unusual, girls of different ages work unselfconsciously together, collaborating on the colourful range of events and activities that make up the fabric of the Woodford school year and contribute to the distinct ethos of the place.

YEARS 7-9 PROGRAMMES OF STUDY
The aim in Key Stage 3 (years 7-9) is to give all girls access to a broad and balanced curriculum which will equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to develop as young learners. All girls at Woodford County High School follow the National Curriculum laid down by the Department for Education. This covers all subjects except Religious Education, where they will follow the syllabus agreed locally by the Statutory Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE). In addition all girls spend one hour each week on Personal, Social, Health and Careers Education (PSHCE).

YEARS 10-11
The curriculum in Key Stage 4 meets the needs of our girls by providing academic challenge, subject breadth and the opportunity to gain good qualifications in a range of subjects that will stand them in good stead to pursue a wide choice of differing options at post-16 and beyond.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Extra-curricular activities are a great way for girls to get more out of their school life. Not only are they a fun and engaging way of trying out new things, or improving existing skills, but they also give girls the opportunity to make new friends and develop their social skills. All these are important in preparing Woodford girls for the future.

LIBRARY
The mission of the Library is to provide students with the skills and resources to become independent critical readers, thinkers and information users.  Within the Library every student is known, liked and valued.  The Library’s role is to support and enhance the school curriculum and its goals, upholding the values of a high quality Woodford education and envisioning the ways in which we collectively seek to achieve these aims.

SIXTH FORM
The Sixth Formers are enthusiastic and intelligent young women who have chosen to complete their education post-16 with us, or have been welcomed from other schools. We have an outstanding retention rate at A Level. In 2020 over 99% of students completed their A Level studies.
