The Palmer Catholic Academy is a voluntary aided co-educational Academy for students aged 11 to 18. Founded in 1961 by Canon Patrick Palmer in 1961 as Canon Palmer Catholic School with the aim of serving the Catholic community in Ilford, the academy has grown in numbers and stature. In 1961 the school educated 300 students as opposed to 1,100 today. The academy has undergone many changes over the years, but at the heart, all they do has remained the same. They are a modern academy with traditional values. At The Palmer Catholic Academy, they pride ourselves on being a culturally diverse family of learners, both students and staff alike. As a learning community they share and use the gifts and talents for the greater good of everyone. As a Catholic academy they place Christ at the heart of all they do and pay special attention to the spiritual development of all the academy community. The academy is made up of a rich fabric of many different faiths, who all share common values.

The Palmer Catholic Academy is a modern academy embracing traditional values, a strong Catholic ethos, a commitment to high academic standards and a respect for cultural diversity. SEND
The Learning Support Department is committed to providing high quality support to ensure that all students are included and make progress. All students follow the National Curriculum. However, within this provision students will be supported to meet individual needs as identified by the monitoring and assessment systems in place. As part of this process the Learning Support Department consults with teaching staff, parents/carers and students. The advice and support of other professionals will be sought to further enhance the support given so that provision is effective. Students are included in all aspects of academy life and have equal opportunity to take part in all activities such as sport, clubs and off site educational visits all with appropriate support.
