Curriculum: The curriculum at Monteagle focuses on developing children’s Character, Knowledge of the World and Key Skills. Through this Character and Academics approach to curriculum design, they express the belief that education is as much about developing young people’s character strengths and virtues as it is about developing their academic ability. The curriculum has been carefully designed to: provide opportunities for children to develop their character strengths and virtues, particularly the core character virtues of curiosity, perseverance, integrity, fairness and creativity;provide opportunities to develop core skills so children develop confident and accomplished skills in English and mathematics as well the ability to think creatively and critically;provide opportunities to develop a deep knowledge and understanding of the essential facts about the world through the ‘contexts for learning‘;
SEN: The Special Educational Needs co-ordinator is Gaye Young. The Governor with responsibility for SEND is Bukola Adejumo. Every pupil at Monteagle Primary School has the opportunity to follow all National Curriculum subjects according to their ability level or the Engagement model for pupils who are not able to access the National Curriculum. They are committed to narrowing the attainment gap between SEND and non-SEND pupils. They do this through a variety of different provisions which may include in school and out of school interventions, short-term specific interventions, home-school interventions and other learning interventions developed on an individual needs basis.
