South Hunsley School and Sixth Form College is leading State Secondary school in North Ferriby. This is a Non-selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Mixed

South Hunsley School & Sixth Form College is a large secondary school and sixth form, situated in Melton in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, near the A63. In April 2010, the school became an Academy.They want everyone at South Hunsley to be happy, confident and successful so they can develop as individuals and achieve more than they think is possible. They can promise you support, care, encouragement and respect as well as a really enjoyable and rewarding school or sixth form experience.
 

Facilities

Key Stage 3
The Key Stage 3 curriculum is designed to build on the learning experiences that children had in their primary schools.  In addition to learning the specialised subject knowledge required to progress through secondary education, students have the chance to develop learning and thinking skills and subject specific skills. We ensure our Key Stage 3 curriculum allows time for creativity both in individual subjects and across the curriculum while providing a broad and balanced education.

Key Stage 4
Pathways are introduced at Key Stage 4 to ensure that students continue to follow a broad and balanced curriculum that is suited to their individual needs. They want every student to finish Year 11 with a complete set of Level 2 qualifications to take them on to their next stage whether this is employment, training or Post 16 study. To give all students the greatest chance of success, we offer four pathways and students can opt for the traditional academic route or a more applied or vocational course. 

Sixth Form
Choosing where to study after your GCSEs is a really big decision and at South Hunsley Sixth Form, they know just how important these next couple of years are for you so we’ll do everything we can to help you achieve your ambitions. We can offer you a fun and enjoyable sixth form experience with a variety of subjects, outstanding teaching, great facilities, plenty of work opportunities and lots of enrichment and social activities.

Sports Center
They can offer you a state of the art fitness suite and sports facilities as well as ample parking and a friendly service. Situated in a quiet location, easily accessible from the A63, a monthly membership (with no joining fee or fixed term contract committment) will give you full access to all our facilities.

Admission Details

Every year they have 350 places available to new Year 7 students. Places are allocated in line with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s co-ordinated admission scheme, and we priorities as follows:
Children who are looked after by a local authority and to children who were previously looked after, including children who were previously looked after by a local authority outside England, but ceased to be so because they were adopted or became subject to a residence order or special guardianship order.
Children who live in the school’s designated catchment area.
Children who have a sibling attending the school in Years 7 to 10.
Children who have attended the school’s named feeder junior or primary schools since the beginning of National Curriculum Year 3.
Children of members of staff working at South Hunsley School and Sixth Form College.
Children who live closest to the school. The distance from the child’s home to the school will be measured and priority will be given to those living nearest to the school.
