A very warm welcome to Queen Elizabeth’s High School. As our crest clearly indicates, we proudly celebrate and promote: Tradition, Achievement, and Opportunity. These core values revolve around ensuring our students are well cared for, academically challenged and afforded access to a broad range of fulfilling and enriching co-curricular activities. As a result, students at QEHS feel safe, flourish within an environment of academic rigour, and develop interests and skills which will go on to serve them well throughout their lives. QEHS is unique in just how integrated students from and between different year groups are. This is in no small part thanks to the numerous leadership opportunities afforded to our students through the school’s wonderful House system, through subject ambassadorship and the highly valued support associated with embedded peer-to-peer mentoring and student-led coaching approaches. On the ground we see Leadership for Learning work for both younger students who growas leaders through the roles they take on, and also for older students who in turn inspire as empathetic, engaging and motivating leaders themselves.

Curriculum
It is the intention that the curriculum challenges and enriches the young people, exposing them, as far as possible, to the wealth of human knowledge, experience and understanding. We therefore plan our curriculum carefully to ensure a broad education for all students throughout the whole of their career at school.

Features

Things to note

Music
Music is vibrant at QEHS, with the focus being on creating music of a high standard which involves as many students as possible. The ensembles they currently run are: Orchestra, Concert Band, Swing Band, Junior Band, Choir, Chamber Choir, Flute Choir, Cinematic Percussion Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble plus a range of smaller ensembles run by staff and students. New starters join Junior Band after a term of lessons. Many students play more than one instrument in school, and there are many students who have private lessons outside school and take part in school ensembles.

Physical Education
Physical Education at QEHS should inspire all students to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for students to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. We will provide opportunities to compete in sport in order to develop values such as fairness, respect and teamwork.
