Caistor Grammar School is a community where we work hard to enable our students to make the most of their ability, to be happy and to be fulfilled. We help our students gain an enviable academic education, to learn practical skills and to develop their power to reason. Learning, for us, goes beyond examination results. We promote learning to foster an understanding of the other aspects of life: social, moral, spiritual, aesthetic and physical.

Facilities

Key Stage 3
Students in the first three years study English, Maths, Science, Computing, History, Geography, Modern Languages, Art, Music, Design and Technology, Religious Education, Physical Education and Citizenship. Our approach to Science treats Biology, Chemistry and Physics as separate subjects. In Year 7 students will study German or French as their first language. In September 2021, the first language will be German. In Year 8 (from September 2022) there will be the opportunity to start one of either Latin or French as a second language. Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) is delivered in a number of ways: through a programme of PSHE lessons directed by Heads of Section and taught by tutors, through assemblies and through a series of visiting speakers covering Living in the Wider World, Health & Wellbeing and Relationships. In Year 9, we have an additonal lesson stregthening our provision for  Relationships & Sex Education (RSE). This programme and our curriculum emphasian inclusive approach, personalised learning approaches and follow assessment for learning strategies.

Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4, Years 10 and 11 students study ten subjects for GCSE. The basic ten are English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, a Language (French, German or Latin), Triple Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) a humanities subject (History or Geography) and two optional subjects chosen from Art, Computer Science, Design & Technology, French, Geography, German, History, Latin, Music, PE and Religious Education. At the core of our curriulum is the EBacc. All students in Key Stage 4 also take courses in Religious Education, RSE, PSHE  (which includes Careers and Citizenship) and Physical Education. Some students have the opportunity to take Level 2 Further Mathematics.

Selection Criteria: Selective

Admission Details

Caistor Grammar School is a co-educational 11 to 18 selective school. The school became Grant Maintained in September 1991, when the school’s admissions policy was included in the school’s proposals for Acquisition of Grant Maintained Status. It became a Foundation School on September 1st 1999 and an Academy on 1st December 2010. The school follows the Lincolnshire County Co-ordinated Admission Scheme.

Applicants will take Verbal Reasoning tests in the Autumn Term of Year 6. The School will administer these tests. Only children who attain a total score of 220 or more in the tests will be eligible for entry. This corresponds to the county-wide standard required in Lincolnshire for entry to LA grammar schools and is designed to select the upper 25% of the ability range.
