Description

Hessle Mount School is Independent Primary school in East Riding of Yorkshire for kids aged 3 to 8 (Gender - Mixed )

For over 125 years they have nurtured all our pupils, from the Junior School right through to Sixth Form, to ensure they receive an outstanding education within an environment that is both warm and supportive and also challenging and stimulating.  This has been particularly evident throughout the pandemic.  From day one they were able to deliver a full timetable of online learning with live teaching to all our pupils. Here at Hymers, for the pupils, this academic year is not about catching up, it is about moving forward.

Features

Things to note

Performing Arts
Singing is hugely popular and every child will have the opportunity to sing in their year group choir. All of the choirs perform regularly and are frequently invited to sing in the local community. The Year 6 Choir have achieved national recognition for their part in Barnardo’s National Choir Competition and Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year Competition. They have even sung in Edinburgh Castle and St. Giles’ Cathedral as part of an annual trip to Edinburgh.

Sport
The comprehensive programme of competitive fixtures against other schools in the region ensures that every child represents Hymers College in sport. This helps to develop a real sense of pride, boosting confidence and giving the children a huge sense of responsibility and independence.Members of the netball, hockey and rugby teams have the opportunity to participate in a three-day national sports tour. The junior sports teams have achieved great success across all fixtures, including winning the Girls’ North East of England HMC Athletics competition, U11 HMC Netball Tournament and qualifying for ESSA National Swimming Finals at Ponds Forge for the last ten years.

Learning Support
The school has a Learning Support team who organise screening tests for students entering the school in Year 7. In addition, observation and evidence from teachers is also used to identify students who may have specific learning difficulties. The Learning Support Co-ordinator produces a Personal Educational Plan for each student who is diagnosed as dyslexic or who has any other recognised learning difficulty, teachers will also provide help based on the recommendations that have been made. They also endeavour to ensure that students who are identified as being in need of special support receive help through outside agencies, if necessary, and through any non-specialist help that subject teachers are able to give. They wish to be sympathetic and supportive to students with difficulties to ensure that they fulfil their potential and are happy in their studies.

Extra-Curricular Activities
NCS is a way for 15 to 17 year olds living in England to make extraordinary friendships, learn the skills they don’t teach you in class and create unforgettable memories. So far, 300,000 young people have had the experience of a lifetime taking part and graduating from the NCS programme.
