They have the highest aspirations for everyone and work together to achieve these, acting in a way that demonstrates our collective values at all times. They have a strong tradition of academic success and also provide extensive opportunities for our students to engage in activities outside of the classroom, be these in music, sport, leadership or one of the many other extra-curricular clubs on offer, enabling our students to realise their potential in many different ways. Sale Grammar School is a happy and vibrant place to be. Our visitors always remark upon the warmth within the school and the excellent relationships that are evident between staff and students. Our teachers are passionate about their subject and have a strong desire to instil in our students a lifelong love of learning, and as a result, they become creative and confident individuals, well prepared for the future.
CURRICULUM
The school curriculum supports this ethos by providing creative and diverse opportunities that enable all of our students to: attain and progress at an appropriate pace and challenge; to achieve their own academic excellence; and; to develop character virtues and personal skills that will prepare our students for the next stage in their lifelong learning and allow them to flourish. The school curriculum is delivered within a community committed to continuing staff development, and passionate about delivering the highest quality teaching and learning to our students from ages 11 to 18, across three key stages. We have developed our Teaching and Learning Policy, which supports both the academic development of our students and their personal development.
SIXTH FORM
Sale Grammar School is a co-educational, selective, Academy Trust Grammar School for pupils aged 11 to 18 with 1250 students on roll of which approximately 340 are Sixth Formers. It is significantly bigger than many other mixed, selective secondary schools.
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND DISABILITIES (SEND)
Mrs Wollen is supported by a team of Teaching Assistants who not only support students in lessons, but also offer additional support to students through a range of different interventions within our dedicated space, called ‘The Hub’. The Hub is a space which any student can access, and is a space where students feel confident and safe to express any concerns that they might have about any areas of their learning, or their emotional health and wellbeing. The Hub helps students to build strong relationships with other staff and students and all work here is coordinated by the Hub Manager Mrs Sarah Linkman.
EXTRA CURRICULAR
A commitment to clubs and enrichment activities. Students are supported in their learning and development through a range of opportunities outside of the classroom, including many opportunities to join clubs and to engage in educational visits and experiences. In this way, we aim to provide a school curriculum that allows every student to flourish and achieve their potential and to enjoy their learning.
