They focus on creating an interesting, stimulating and supportive learning environment, where each pupil can enjoy their education, develop and flourish. There are currently 194 children enrolled across 7 classes in the age range of 4-11 years. We centre our learning and behaviour on the five core values: Excellence, Perseverance, Responsibility, Respect and Compassion. They firmly believe that the personal and social development of children is as important as their academic progress.

Facilities

Curriculum
Girton Glebe is a community centred Primary school focused on empowering learners to achieve their full potential. We want our children to leave our school with the confidence that comes from possessing a bank of essential knowledge as well as important skills they can apply throughout life.  This approach will lead pupils to be successful, independent and motivated learners in readiness for their next stage of education. The curriculum is designed and structured to complement and build upon each subject area, with clear progression and links so that in subsequent year groups, the learners will be able to explore concepts more deeply, and apply their knowledge in different contexts. Higher attainers are further challenged in their learning via extension activities and enhanced questioning. Children who find aspects of their learning more difficult are appropriately supported so that they too are enabled to experience success. National and school requirements are mapped out as a whole-school for teachers to then plan the curriculum for their pupils accordingly.

Features

Things to note

After School Clubs
They have a fantastic range of after-school clubs to get involved in at Girton Glebe which will grow and change as time goes on. Each term they aim to offer a varied timetable with new offerings running alongside our most popular regular clubs: Art, Gymnastics and CupCake Club. They aim to appeal to as many children as possible, with recent clubs including: Korfball, Mindful Chess, Japanese, Tag Rugby, Pilates, Swimming and Cheerleading, to name but a few.

Breakfast Club
They offer an on-site Breakfast Club, provided by Smartkidz Play and Learn, in a dedicated room with its own kitchen facilities. Children can start their day in a familiar setting, with friends, before transitioning to their classroom for registration.

Educational Visits
To enrich the curriculum at Girton Glebe, they arrange trips and visits outside of school, whole-school events and activities within the school day and invite experts and visitors into school to work with the children. Parents are asked to make a voluntary contribution towards the cost of educational visits as advised in the Education Act (1988). Governors are anxious that no child should be discriminated against through lack of funds, and urge anyone who would like help meeting the costs to talk to the Headteacher who will treat the conversation in strict confidence.
