Gretton School is Independent Secondary school in Selective for kids aged 5 to 19 (Gender - 5 to 19 )

Gretton School welcomes autistic children and young people aged from 5—19 years old, as weekly boarders or as day students. Every student at Gretton has a diagnosis of autism or aspergers syndrome and every student is different. As autism specialists, they understand that consistent daily routines and staffing helps to keep anxiety at a minimum and ensures that the students feel safe and confident in their surroundings. They have a high staff to student ratio and classes are small and personal –they know each of the students really well and employ the best strategies to support them in their everyday school life.

Students may also be entered for a variety of courses and examinations including; SATs, ASDAN and AQA/Edexcel awards and certificates, Entry Level certificates, Functional skills, GCSEs, BTECs and NCFE. In the Sixth form, learning can lead to A Levels or other Level 3 qualifications.

Forest School
Forest School is an ethos and method of increasing confidence and self esteem through facilitating child led hands on experiences in a local woodland environment or outside environment.  These sessions are regular opportunities for children to explore the outdoors. The sessions are paved by the children’s interests and each session is reflected upon to help navigate future sessions.  There may be activities running during the session for children to join in with or they may choose to follow their interests in playing on a rope swing, climbing a tree or investigating the site.

Things to note

PSHE at Gretton
Personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) development is at the heart of everything they do here at Gretton and is woven throughout the whole curriculum. The overarching term personal development includes PSHE including Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), SMSC (including British Values), Preparation for Adulthood and Careers development.Within these two webpages (PSHE & SMSC) we have tried to capture all the wonderful things that they do at Gretton to support the personal development of our learners. As a school, academic studies are incredibly important to us, but the bit we get really excited about is when they see a learner achieving their academic potential because of all their ongoing personal development: their emotional regulation, their reflective practice, their understanding of the wider world and their own aspirations for the future.
