Description

Eaton Square Mayfair is a family of co-educational, independent day schools, located in the heart of London and dedicated to drawing out the very best of the children and young people. Nursery and Prep educates children aged 2 to 11 and our Senior and Sixth Form educates from 11 through to 18. At every stage of development, pupils are enveloped in a secure, tailored learning environment, providing them with the educational and personal support to thrive academically and make their mark in today’s world.

Facilities

  • At Eaton Square, co-curricular activities play an integral role in turning this theory into practice. From the cultural to the physical and the charitable, they offer a broad range of opportunities that challenge both body and mind, and bring school’s guiding POISE values to life.
  • There are four dedicated co-curricular sessions within the timetabled week, with over 35 different activities and societies throughout the school week, including Mindfulness club, the Politics and Current Affairs Society, Maths Challenge, the Community Outreach programme, Drama, and Lawn Games in Green Park.
  • Students are all encouraged to develop existing talents and also to try new things. If there is interest in an activity not currently available, they will do everything in power to make it available and, in fact, many of the clubs and societies have been initiated by the students themselves.

Features

Things to note

  • The Sports Department has also run a number of well attended clubs throughout the academic year including football, swimming, table tennis, invasion games, weight training, yoga and boxing. They run regular sports trips throughout the academic year, most notably the Sports and Culture Tour of South Africa and the school’s annual ski trip. Alongside these larger overseas trips, they have taken trips to watch The Varsity Match at Twickenham Stadium, international netball, ATP Tennis, and cricket.
  • At Senior and Sixth Form level, students are working towards Higher Education and a life outside of school. The programme of trips and visits ensures they develop their appreciation for, and understanding of, the wider world.
  • The music department offers many additional opportunities for students to be involved in music making both at lunchtime and after school. Weekly choir rehearsals take place in the main stateroom in school and they perform a very wide range of music, including everything from Music Theatre, traditional folk music and pop music. They perform regularly at school concerts and other events.

Admission Details

Joining Nursery Schools (ages 2-4): All Eaton Square Nursery Schools are located on the ground floor of the Prep School. The pre-nursery is known as ‘Greenhouse Nursery’ and the main nursery (comprising the renowned ‘Beehive’ and ‘Treetop’ classrooms) is known as ‘Eccleston Nursery’. Children typically enter the Greenhouse Nursery in the September following their second birthday; and the Eccleston Nursery in the September following their third birthday. Places are offered on a first come first served basis. Early Registration is essential for securing a place in any of the Nursery Schools. Parents can register their child from birth. You can register here. Once registered, the School will contact the parents with an official offer letter requesting a deposit and signed documentation. As soon as the School receives these, the child’s Nursery place is secured. Eaton Square Nursery children have priority access to the Prep School. There is an informal, play-based assessment within their Nursery setting (of which they are unaware) and places are offered before external candidates apply. Contact Registrar to arrange a visit. Call +44 207 225 3131 or email [email protected]

Joining Prep School in Reception (ages 4-5): If applying from external Nursery Schools, parents can register their child at any stage prior to the formal assessment, which takes place a year prior to entry (when the child is 3). Once registered, there are two application requirements:

  • Attendance at informal, play-based assessment morning
  • Reference and/or report from the child’s current Nursery.

Other Entry Points: For children applying for Year 1 places and above (ages 5-10) and/or during the academic year, places are allocated based on:

  • Latest School report(s) and Reference Form from the child’s current School
  • Trial Day at Eaton Square Prep School – For children aged 5-6, sometimes a shorter trial ‘session’ in school will suffice
  • Interview with the Head or Principal
