Wetherby Senior is an independent day school, for boys aged 11-18 years, located in Marylebone, in the heart of London.

Facilities

  • Behind the trademark red doors of Marylebone Lane building lies a treasure trove of sporting facilities for all young people to enjoy. This includes a fully-equipped strength and conditioning suite, and a superb spin studio, which also prove popular for lunchtime and after-school clubs.
  • Central London location also ensures easy use of nearby state-of-the-art facilities, like Regent’s Park’s sports grounds and Ealing Trailfinders, which pupils visit several times a week, using equipment and pitches available for professional rugby union and cricket teams as well as the London Broncos rugby league team.
  • The breadth of facilities available to young people, both at School and away from Marylebone Road, ensures boys can partake in the winter team sports of rugby and football and  play tennis and cricket, as well as enjoy youth athletic development or spin. Alongside football, rugby, tennis and cricket, they offer athletics, basketball, swimming, yoga, table tennis and running, to name just a few of available options.

  • At Wetherby Senior, sport is a compulsory activity across all years. They provide a wide array of activities, with state-of-the-art facilities, to help boys develop character, build friendships and stay healthy, both physically and mentally. 
  • Music is a vibrant dimension of school life at Wetherby Senior, with boys encouraged to develop their individual talents and interests. While all in Year 7 are taught to play a brass instrument, the Music Department also offers tuition in a wide range of instruments. They have numerous music ensembles as well as active School Choir. 
  • Wetherby Senior’s Drama Department affords many opportunities for boys to get involved – whether it be performing on stage or behind-the-scenes, with set design, lighting and costumes.
  • They offer an extensive range of activities and clubs, from basketball, climbing and boxercise to rock band, film club and digital animation enabling the boys to develop their interests and ideas. 
  • At Wetherby Senior, community service helps boys contribute positively to society. Activities range from volunteering in the local community to supporting charitable endeavours, and from participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award to taking on a leadership post at the School.

Admission Details

16+ ENTRY (YEAR 12): Applications are now open for 16 + entry to Sixth Form in September 2023. For 16+ entry to the Sixth Form in September 2022, then please contact Registrar ([email protected]) directly). 16+ assessment day is held in the autumn term of Year 11, on Friday 11th November 2022. Boys are interviewed and examined in the subjects they wish to study for A Level. All registered parents are informed, by letter, of the key dates for entry process at the start of autumn term. They usually offer places to candidates from waiting list after the closing date for acceptances.

11+ ENTRY (YEAR 7): Applications are now open for 11+ entry to Wetherby Senior in September 2023. The registration deadline is Friday 14th October 2022 at 12.00pm. Boys applying to Wetherby Senior for 11+ entry are required to take the ISEB Common Pre-Test during the autumn term of Year 6.This is a respected and widely used online test for children moving from primary or prep schools to selective secondary schools.The test assesses the English and Mathematics content covered in the National Curriculum up to the end of Year 5 as well as verbal and non-verbal reasoning.For candidates who were unable to sit the test in their own school, they can host candidates at Wetherby Senior. Interviews for selected candidates will be held in January 2023.

13+ ENTRY (YEAR 9): Applications are now open for 13+ entry to Wetherby Senior in September 2025. Registration deadline is Friday 14th October 2022 at 12.00pm. 13+ assessments are held in the autumn of Year 6 through the ISEB Common Pre-Test and then interview. Fees

School fees for the 2021-22 academic year are £8,670 per term.
For the 2022-23 academic year, School fees will be £9,060 per term.

Scholarships

Wetherby Senior School offers financial assistance in the form of bursaries. These are available through the Gold Standard Charitable Trust. Bursaries are designed to widen access to the school by enabling boys to come who could not otherwise do so, and to allow boys to remain in the event of a change in family circumstances. Bursaries are subject to a detailed means test. Parents should be aware that the Trust does not have the resources to support all applications and only a limited number of boys will receive support in a given year.

Applicants for 11+ and 16+ and Occasional Places should indicate their intention to request a bursary when they submit their application.

Applicants for 13+ should apply after they have been awarded a place at the school.
