Wetherby Preparatory School

48 Bryanston Square London W1H 2EA
7-13 Years

Description

Wetherby Preparatory School is an independent school for boys aged 7 to 13, located in Central London.

Facilities

Using the indoor studio at Seymour Leisure Centre behind the school and the extensive pitches and facilities at Wetherby Sports Ground, 20 minutes from the School, they ensure that boys develop their football, rugby and cricket skills.

Features

Things to note

  • They organise a full weekly programme of extra-curricular clubs before and after school. In addition to this, further activities are held every Friday afternoon. Boys can attend a different club every week, ranging from cricket nets at Lord’s to horse riding in Hyde Park. Wetherby Prep boys are encouraged to take part in all areas of school life. They applaud enthusiasm and a ‘have a go’ attitude, helping boys’ foster new interests in a sport or hobby.
  • There is an extensive range of trips, residential visits and visiting speakers during the school year. They take full advantage of the museums, theatres and places of interest in the capital, as well as those in Europe. The links with senior schools develop every year and the boys benefit from special lessons by visiting staff.

Annual Open Evening has now passed but If parents are interested in visiting the school, please contact 020 7535 3520 to arrange a meeting with Mr Baker and short tour of the building. Due to demand for private tours, priority is given to parents of boys who will be sitting the 7+ and 8+ in the following year. In September, registered boys will be invited to attend the January 7+ and 8+ Assessment Week (normally second week of January). Here, they will sit short tests in English and Maths and take part in group based activities. Offers for entry into Year 3 and 4 will be made a few weeks later with the deadline for acceptances by spring half term. The school has a small intake of 12-16 boys (one class) at Year 3 and a further intake of 70 (four classes) at Year 4. Wetherby School and Wetherby Kensington boys automatically feed into the school at Year 4. Wetherby is a family school and siblings always have priority on entry. Please complete the Waiting List Form if you are interested in joining Wetherby Prep outside of the normal 7 and 8+ entry.

Scholarships

Over the last few years, they have worked together as a community to develop a ‘Bursary Fund’. The fund has two purposes:

• Bursaries provide an essential safety net to support boys of current parents who have unexpectedly fallen into financial or other difficulty, and
• Scholarships aim to ensure our school community is vibrant, diverse and accessible to our most talented boys by ensuring a Wetherby Prep School education is available to those from less advantaged backgrounds.

If you would like to find out more about the appeal you can download the Appeal Booklet below, contact the school directly, or email us on [email protected]
