Description

Abingdon House School & College is an independent day school for pupils aged from 7 to 19 with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADD/ADHD, autistic spectrum condition, social communication difficulties and other associated needs.

The teaching and integrated therapy at Abingdon House School & College focuses on supporting the challenges faced by students with Special Educational Needs, such as working memory, processing speed, executive functioning, sensory processing, social communication needs, as well as the impact these may have on a student’s confidence and self esteem.

​The school provides a warm, nurturing and aspirational learning environment where the specific individual learning needs of our students are fully supported in a mainstream styled environment.  At Abingdon House School & College we provide an integrated, whole-school multidisciplinary approach to meeting the needs of students with unique learning profiles based on understanding your child’s individual needs, nurturing their academic and social development and caring for their well being.

​Our school is located at Broadley Terrace NW1, just off Lisson Grove and within walking distance of Marylebone Station, Baker Street Station and Regents Park.

Junior School & Senior School

The Junior School is comprised of students in Years 2-6, and the Senior School Years 7-11.  As many of our students may be studying outside of year group, or demonstrate skills and needs both below and above their chronological ages, our classes will often consist of mixed ages and classes are structured to ensure appropriate academic and social groupings.

Abingdon House School & College is in bright attractive premises in a refurbished Victorian School, arranged over four levels. It is fully resourced to meet the needs of its pupils.

The classrooms are large, bright and well furnished. The School Hall is used for assemblies, celebrations and games.

The School also has a dining room, a music room, an Art and Design room, a Science/Food Technology room, Sensory room, Wellbeing room and a Library. Each student has their own laptop for use in class, or iPads if they are more appropriate for the child’s needs, or depending on the activity – for example, using a Speech & Language Therapy app.

There are specialist rooms for occupational and physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, as well as for other additional support.

The attractive environment, excellent facilities and resources, specialist teaching, dedicated learning support and on-site multi-disciplinary team of professionals offer integrated, specialist provision at its best. In addition, the students play in Regents Park and other local parks and recreational facilities on a regular basis.

Admission Details

Procedure for Admission
 

Our process for Admissions is as follows:

  • Fill in our admissions request form.
  • Provide the school with all specialist reports and EHCPs where applicable.
  • Where appropriate, your child will be invited to participate in trial days within the School.  They will be placed in a potentially suitable class will engage in the normal School day. Teachers, therapists and SENCos will observe your child throughout the day.
  • From time to time, our team may deem it necessary to conduct some further assessments of your child during their time at the School.

Enrolment is year-round, which means that we can consider students at any point in the year.  We always aim, where possible, to have students start at the School at the beginning of a half or full term.

Both parents must be in agreement of their child attending Abingdon House School before we would offer a place, as a close working relationship between parents and School is essential.

Fees

Academic year 2019/20 = £11,180 per term (£33,540 per annum).
