Safety, well-being and the desire to discover new things are at the heart of the philosophy of our "house of learning".Located in the heart of the British capital in the Camden district , the French Bilingual College of London gives its students access to excellent education through enhanced language learning and the dissemination of digital culture. In a warm environment, our students discover the joy of learning in a spirit of respect and trust based on listening and ongoing dialogue with the teaching and educational teams.Encouraged to exchange, create and take initiatives in a multicultural environment , our students acquire, in addition to academic knowledge, human and relational qualities that will guide them throughout their years of study and even beyond.
Primary School
Class activities are supervised alternately by a French teacher with a National Education qualification and a native English-speaking teacher. The rhythm of the work-study program with hourly parity (13 hours per week in each of the languages) is defined according to educational criteria defined by the teaching team. All the subjects and programs defined by the Ministry of National Education are therefore studied in both languages in a perfectly balanced way and teaching is the result of constant dialogue between the two teachers in the pair.
Middle School
The educational offer at the secondary level continues to emphasize the mastery of English and the intensive learning of other modern languages. All students benefit from five hours of English language and culture instruction from 6th grade. The objective is to be able to offer as many people as possible the possibility of taking the National Brevet Diploma, International option, at the end of the 3rd year. The CFBL has also set up teaching exclusively in English in certain non-linguistic disciplines such as visual arts, music and computer science. In total, nearly 40% of teaching time in college is provided in English and by English-speaking teachers. The CFBL also emphasizes other modern languages. LV2 (Spanish, German or Mandarin) is taught from sixth grade. An introduction to Mandarin is offered to all 4th and 3rd year students who have not chosen it as LV2.
Digital Learning
E-education holds a special place in teaching thanks to a digital work environment with the use of tablets, chromebooks and PCs, but also thanks to specific teaching of computer science including learning to program. and this from primary school. The teaching of computer science , at a rate of 30 minutes per week, leads at the end of the course to the preparation of students for the computer and internet certificate (B2i) college, which validates the skills acquired. In addition, students are trained in research techniques and the use of digital resources at various key points in their career, whether during projects carried out in class or in the library.
School trips
Every year, CFBL students have the chance to visit other corners of the planet, in order to discover other countries, and immerse themselves in new cultures. This openness to the world is essential to the development of students, and we recommend that all students take part in school trips.
Library
Located in the small house at the level of the college courtyard, the primary library has nearly 5,500 books in French and English. In addition to subscriptions to 14 French and English magazines suitable for children aged 3 to 11, the library collection is made up of fiction books (novels, stories, poetry, theatre, comic strips and albums) and documentary works.
Extracurricular activities and daycare
The CFBL offers a daycare service for nursery and primary school pupils, and for all pupils, a large number of paid extra-curricular activities, organized by CFBL Clubs. These activities take place after school and cover a wide variety of areas: football, dance, drama, chess, music and languages.
