Camden School for Girls is a comprehensive school that provides an excellent education for all its students. They enable the students to find their own voices and develop their own opinions by encouraging a broad understanding of the world, a social conscience and a considerate approach to other people. Every student is valued, and we encourage all students to value other people as well. Our aim is to nurture caring, confident, responsible and mature young adults who are ready to go on to the next stage of their education.
Key Stage 3 – Years 7, 8 and 9
The KS3 curriculum is characterised by its breath and variety. A distinctive part of our provision is the study of Classics and Latin which allows students an opportunity to further build on cultural capital, critical thinking skills and higher tier literacy. The four classes in each year form teaching groups for some subjects. Smaller groups are created for the teaching of practical subjects. Students who struggle with their learning are given additional assistance by our Learning Support department.
Key Stage 4 – Years 10 and 11
In Years 10 and 11 students follow a rich programme of core and optional subjects. A distinctive part of our provision is that all students study a modern foreign language, key to building essential skills and knowledge to be an active global citizen, as well as Theology and Religion, key to building knowledge of our diverse society and developing cultural capital and abstract thinking skills.
PSHE
They integrate strong moral, spiritual, cultural and social development of our students through the full range of subject teaching, pastoral guidance and the variety of extra-curricular activities on offer. A core part of this is delivered in our weekly PSHEE lessons on Monday mornings, where students follow a spiralized curriculum which not only meets all the national requirements, but instil in the students a stronger sense of self, empowering students as independent, informed citizens equipped with the resilience and moral character to overcome challenges and succeed.
Sixth Form
The students are talented, resourceful, confident and creative individuals. Through their Sixth Form experience, we endeavour to ensure that they leave qualified, stimulated and well-prepared for the challenges of life. The school has a reputation for academic excellence balanced with a rich programme of extracurricular activities delivered in a welcoming environment. We respect our students and treat them as individuals. We try to involve everyone in taking an active part in the community thereby enriching the Sixth Form experience.
Extra Curricular Activities
At Camden School for Girls we pride ourselves on developing our students as confident and rounded individuals. They offer a wide range of opportunities for students to build this confidence and find and develop interests outside the classroom. We pride ourselves on excellent standards of achievement but we also want our students to have the skills and motivation to succeed in all areas in their lives, have high self esteem and be socially engaged citizens. The wide range of extracurricular activities on offer aim to stimulate interests outside the classroom and provide students with new and exciting learning and developmental experiences.
Remote Learning
The school will provide remote learning across the curriculum subjects that your child follow. This will include tasks set on Google Classroom, 'live' lessons via Google Meet and pre-recorded presentations by teachers.
