Curriculum
The curriculum must be far more than knowledge; it must provide our children with far reaching experiences and opportunities that are diverse, rich, aspirational and cogent which are diminishing in the technological world we currently live. It should spike their interest, provoke curiosity, widen their eyes and point to the future whilst learning from the past. Opportunities must be afforded to children that allow personal challenge and the possibility to question all. They must lead the learning and have scope to breathe in unforced and impassioned learning experiences. Learning must never be confined to the classroom and must promote skill application and a thirst for cerebration – where practical application and the ability to discharge what is learnt within the wider world and as a tool to excel within life.

Features

Things to note

Forest School
A Forest School develops by individuals in a setting becoming qualified Forest School Practitioners. Initially projects run from a school’s own grounds allowing the children to become comfortable with an outdoor approach to education and play whilst in familiar surroundings. Allowing relationships based around trust and self-exploration to develop with the Forest School Leaders who start to facilitate a more child led outdoor curriculum when the group are ready they familiarise themselves with the route to the forest area. The group will then have their introductory sessions, exploring the site establishing physical and behavioral boundaries.

Sen
At Chipping Hill Primary School they aim to offer excellence and choice to all our children, whatever their ability or needs. They have high expectations of all our children and they aim to achieve this through the removal of barriers to learning and participation. They want the children to feel that they are a valued part of our school community.Almost all children experience difficulty at some time in their school career, albeit at different levels. The difficulties may be learning, behavioural, emotional/social, speech and language, medical or physical. Children may have already experienced difficulties prior to starting school although it may manifest itself at any time. A child is considered to have Special Educational Needs where their learning or disability calls for special educational provision, that is provision different from or additional to that normally available to pupils of the same age. All children need different levels of support at different times and as a whole school we work together to identify the individual needs of each pupil and decide on the best course of action at any given time.
