Welcome to Maldon Court Preparatory School, a small, happy and caring school community where young children can flourish in a positive and supportive environment.Originally established in 1956, this private school near Chelmsford in Essex has maintained its vision of being run as a family-owned, friendly school with high expectations and standards.Children here are encouraged to develop in all aspects of the broad and balanced curriculum. Nursery (ages 1-3)
The strong family ethos that runs through our school extends to our nursery where we provide a happy and nurturing environment for our children. We offer a spacious, enriching and inclusive environment within the grounds of Maldon Court Preparatory School in an independent building, whilst still remaining very much part of the school community. The bright and cheerful, independent School Nursery is always buzzing with purposeful activity, as the youngest children discover that learning is fun and school is a happy place to be. Our Nursery is about providing the youngest members of our school with an early education, we provide so much more than childcare.
Pre-Reception (ages 3-4)
Pre-Reception is the next stage of your child's education following on from their nursery years. Our Pre-Reception nurtures and fully prepares your child for entry in to Reception the following year. Practical activities enhance the children’s growing ability to make sense of the world through exploration, experimentation, observation, and discussion. As they grow in confidence and independence, creative and physical play are seamlessly interwoven with more structured learning. The emphasis in these years is on all-round development and the ‘paired and shared’ key worker system reinforces relationships between children, parents and staff.
Reception (ages 4-5, EYFS)
At this stage the children cheerfully begin to take on responsibilities. They are encouraged to develop their listening and speaking skills, to use technology and to look at life beyond the school gates. While close attention is paid to literacy and numeracy, great emphasis is also placed on personal, social and emotional development.With these strong foundations, they move on to the next stage of their education as confident and sociable young people, proudly equipped with new skills and eager to use them.

Things to note
ART
They encourage pupils to use their imagination and creativity in a variety of mediums that provide visual, tactile and sensory experiences. They really do agree with Picasso’s comment that "Every child is an artist" and all of our pupils have the opportunity to experiment with painting, drawing, printing, textiles and clay. This allows them to discover and develop a wide range of skills and boost their confidence in at least one of these areas. In addition to cultivating their own skills, pupils of all ages learn to recognise and appreciate the artistic work of others.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
There is a love of sport at Maldon Court which has been nurtured and developed by the dedicated members of our PE Department. We aim for high levels of physical fitness and co-ordination, in turn fostering confidence and encouraging participation from children at all levels. The school enters teams both locally and nationally in a wealth of sporting events and competitions, and currently holds the title of 'District Track and Field Athletics Champions'.
