St Anne's School is Independent Primary school in Essex for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
St Anne’s Preparatory School is a small Independent Preparatory School founded in 1925 for boys and girls aged 3-11 years. The School is renowned for its friendly atmosphere, supportive enthusiastic staff and excellent academic results. Conveniently situated in the centre of Chelmsford, the pupils enjoy the facilities of a large Victorian townhouse, extensively adapted for use as a school, with ample playgrounds and grass areas for recreation. At St. Anne’s, we endeavour to create a happy environment in which every child feels welcomed, cared for and treated fairly. We aim to ensure that our pupils enjoy the excitement of learning and surprise themselves with their progress, taking pride in the standards they are able to achieve.
EARLY YEARS
The “Early Years Foundation Stage” department consists of Kindergarten 1 (KG1) pre-school class and Kindergarten 2 (KG2) reception class. It incorporates an introduction to learning and development for children who join us after their 3rd birthday They encourage all parents to complete at least one term in the KG1 pre-school class to prepare them for transition to the KG2 Reception class. This enables the children to bond with their future peers, giving them a head start in their academic lives and introduction to school structure and life.
PRE-PREP
Each year group has an exclusive teacher, dedicated to all aspects of the curriculum. Pupils’ work is always displayed in bright, colourful and well equipped classrooms. They follow the national curriculum and complement this with many additional subjects to enhance creative, physical and practical skills. Formal homework is introduced at this stage and we expect each child to set aside some time each evening for some reading, learning of tables and spellings.
PREP
They enhance and reinforce the curriculum in these years, whilst promoting spiritual, moral, cultural and physical development. They introduce specialist focus on the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, with a variety of additional subjects added, promoting a challenging and stimulating educational programme. Pupils learn how to work independently and also to cooperate as a team. Regular homework is set to consolidate learning and encourage independence.
PERFORMING ARTS
All pupils receive a weekly drama class as part of the curriculum, ranging from teacher-led presentations for the younger classes through to reading and performing Shakespeare for the older pupils. Dance at St Anne’s is delivered in a variety of ways, such as inclusion in school assemblies and festivals, an extra-curricular Dance Club for children in Years Four – Six, and the annual summer production.
