Welcome to Chelmsford County High School for Girls (CCHS) a proud grammar school community. CCHS was opened in 1907 to provide girls with an academic education. They, as the twenty-first century guardians of this significant inheritance, have chosen to honour this legacy by defining and pursuing an ambition for CCHS to be a progressive grammar school, committed to excellence in girls' education and empowerment They are ENGAGED– teaching & learning practice is strengthened by working with the National Association for Able Children in Education (NACE), with leadership & management practice being developed through our work with the Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI). They are DYNAMIC– students are provided with a wealth of opportunities, as we work with the Association of State Girls’ Schools (ASGS) in Britain and the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools (NCGS) internationally, to instil confidence, fire ambition and promote advancement.

Sixth Form
The Sixth Form at Chelmsford County High School is very dynamic, vibrant and purposeful. In the two years the students are with us, they not only make great progress academically in their chosen subjects, but also have opportunities to participate in a range of activities outside the classroom that will develop both their thinking and a broad range of life and leadership skills.

Library
As a key part of student life at CCHS we take pride in keeping our library both relevant and appealing to our students in this increasingly digital age. They stock an extensive range of both fiction and non-fiction books, keeping track of current reading trends to ensure we meet the needs of our borrowers. Extra Curricular
Chelmsford County High School prides itself on offering a broad and enriching experience for students. To this end, we recognise that learning does not take place only in the classroom. Extra-curricular activities allow students to deepen their interests and broaden their horizons. It is for these reasons that we strongly advise students to get involved so they can become full members of the School community. A rich and vibrant culture of extra-curricular activities exists at the School. Students participate in activities during lunchtimes, after school and over weekends. Such activities clearly feed into our mission and aims as a School. Crucially, these activities allow students to organise and take responsibility for events, thus allowing them to develop their leadership skills.
