St Anne's Preparatory School is a Independent Primary School for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed).
At St. Anne’s they celebrate the talents and gifts of each child and enable them to reach their full potential spiritually, morally, academically, socially and physically. They aim to develop a responsible and independent attitude in all children towards their work, and towards their roles in society by providing a well balanced education, incorporating the best of traditional and modern teaching methods. They take pride in the fact that when the children are ready to move on to their senior schools, they are confident in their own ability and ready to face the challenges ahead. We hope that you will visit us soon and experience first hand the caring family atmosphere that is evident in our school.
We completed the development of our world-class playing fields in 2002. This sporting provision, which is the largest single development in Europe, includes 6 rugby pitches, 6 football pitches, 2 five-a-side pitches, 8 cricket squares, a floodlit artificial turf pitch, lacrosse pitch, netball, and tennis courts. Each laser levelled surface, combined with the superb underground drainage, offers exceptional playing conditions in almost any weather, and allows skill development of the highest standards. The pavilion provides quality changing space, café hospitality for visitors and is a space where we host several functions each year.
EARLY YEARS
The “Early Years Foundation Stage” department consists of Kindergarten 1 (KG1) pre-school class and Kindergarten 2 (KG2) reception class. It incorporates an introduction to learning and development for children who join them after their 3rd birthday. They encourage all parents to complete at least one term in the KG1 pre-school class to prepare them for transition to the KG2 Reception class. This enables the children to bond with their future peers, giving them a head start in their academic lives and introduction to school structure and life. A bright, sunny and well equipped classroom with a dedicated play area promotes effective learning in all seven areas of the foundation stage curriculum.
PRE-PREP
Each year group has an exclusive teacher, dedicated to all aspects of the curriculum. Pupils’ work is always displayed in bright, colourful and well equipped classrooms. They follow the national curriculum and complement this with many additional subjects to enhance creative, physical and practical skills. Formal homework is introduced at this stage and they expect each child to set aside some time each evening for some reading, learning of tables and spellings. Regular educational trips broaden children’s learning experience, and guest speakers talk on a wide variety of topics. Children have the opportunity to display their talents, performing in regular music and drama productions.
PREP
They enhance and reinforce the curriculum in these years, whilst promoting spiritual, moral, cultural and physical development. They introduce specialist focus on the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, with a variety of additional subjects added, promoting a challenging and stimulating educational programme. Pupils learn how to work independently and also to cooperate as a team. Regular homework is set to consolidate learning and encourage independence. Termly exams are held to monitor pupils’ progress and ensure achievement levels are consistently high. KS2 National Standard Attainment Tests take place at the end of year 6; again St Anne’s results are consistently outstanding and greatly exceed the national average.
Drama
All pupils receive a weekly drama class as part of the curriculum, ranging from teacher-led presentations for the younger classes through to reading and performing Shakespeare for the older pupils. All students become very practised at learning poetry for assemblies, Harvest and Christmas festivals, honing their performance skills as they go. School trips are often organised to see stage productions locally and in London.
Dance
Dance at St Anne’s is delivered in a variety of ways, such as inclusion in school assemblies and festivals, an extra-curricular Dance Club for children in Years Four – Six, and the annual summer production. There are also ad-hoc opportunities through external festivals and showcases which further challenge and extend the abilities of the children involved.
Music
Music lessons are provided by a specialist performing arts teacher, and again are offered throughout the school as part of the standard curriculum. The children are taught singing, music appreciation, rhythm and percussion, all with an emphasis on learning through fun rather than being pressured to perform.
Sport
Sport is a key part of school life for all students at St Anne’s School. They are dedicated to providing the very best in Physical Education and they recognise that it is an area of physical, mental and social development and they aim to promote good health and fitness in all children. Within curriculum time, the Foundation and Key Stage 1 children are taught introductory activities in areas of gymnastics, athletics and the fundamental skills required in more traditional ‘games’
