Nursery
They welcome little ones from the age of 12 months to our private Nursery. Based at our Junior School in the village of Wicken near Milton Keynes, the Nursery is cosseted within the main school house and very much a part of Akeley Wood School. It is open from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm, 51 weeks of the year.Nursery and Reception have been significantly refurbished in recent years and are modern, fit-for-purpose learning spaces. Nursery comprises four spacious rooms tailored to the different age groups as well as an enclosed outdoor play area.Pre-schoolers, aged three and four, benefit from specialist teaching every week in Computing, PE, Forest School, French and Music, as well as having literacy and numeracy lessons with nursery practitioners.
Senior School
Akeley Wood Senior School in Buckinghamshire provides an excellent and innovative education for girls and boys aged 11 to 18. Our school motto Be Kind. Work Hard. Play Hard and Be You. Brilliantly. Ensures that the school community celebrates talent across the board and students feel like they are valued.Years 7 to 11 are based at our Akeley Wood House Campus and we have a dedicated Sixth Form campus called AW6. The Senior School curriculum is designed to help develop pupils knowledge and understanding of not only core GCSE subjects but also a wide range of topics, to give them a global perspective. In addition to the in-classroom practices, pupils have ample opportunity to take part in extra-curricular activities including sport and regular trips and visits to enhance their learning.
Junior School
Akeley Wood Junior School offers a private education to children aged up to 11 at our Wicken Park grounds in rural Northamptonshire, near Milton Keynes. It is a fantastic start to formal education, combining a caring community environment with high-quality classroom teachers and subject specialists, plus outdoor space that has to be seen to be believed.The bespoke assessment methods, developed by Junior School staff, mean that we monitor our pupil’s progress regularly and in a meaningful way. We use the findings to tailor the learning experience and curriculum to suit the needs of every child. As well as focusing on core educational subjects such as Maths, English and Science, our junior school pupils are introduced to subjects including Art, Music and Drama, giving them the opportunity to express themselves in new ways, growing in confidence as they do so.

Pupils also become familiar with the benefits of exercise in maintaining personal fitness and a healthy lifestyle.They have, in recent years, invested heavily in our facilities. We have an impressive all-weather full-size Astroturf pitch for Football and Hockey, twelve tennis courts and a four-badminton court, heated sports dome all set in the surrounding woods and fields, the perfect location for sports enjoyment.
Learning Support
The student body encompasses a wide range of academic abilities, and includes children with specific learning difficulties, some of whom will require additional support to enable them to access the curriculum and maximise the benefits of their school career.The dedicated team of learning support assistants work alongside Junior School classroom teachers across Reception and Years 1 and 2, working flexibly in the areas of greatest need.
