Facilities

Nursery
Since 1984 the Grove Day Nursery has been leading the way in the provision of care for the under fives in Milton Keynes. Its ideally balanced programmes are unique and make attending the nursery an extension of the child's own home. From physical care needs to early recognition and communication skills the children’s individuality is encouraged, with the emphasis on fun and play. The nursery, with purpose built base rooms and stimulating amenities, is based on the school site in Loughton Valley park. Its close links to the school encourage the smooth transition between nursery and pre-prep.

Pre Prep
The Pre-Prep curriculum has been developed to build a strong foundation of the basic skills, time is devoted each day to teaching reading, writing and mathematics. In addition the full academic and physical curriculum is taught to develop healthy active minds and bodies. Much of the work is cross-curricular which extends over several weeks and through all subject areas. Children enter the Pre-Prep department at the beginning of the school year in which they become four years of age. Classes are small, each group of no more than 16 children, in the care of a qualified class teacher and class assistant. Our policy of individual and small group teaching ensures that the children progress at their own rate, achieving competency and thus realising their full potential.

Prep
Children enter the prep department at the beginning of the school year in which they become eight years of age. Each group of no more than sixteen children has its own form tutor and is subject taught by specialist staff in all areas of the curriculum. Pupils are carefully grouped within their subject classes to ensure all pupils are stretched. In the prep department our philosophy is to marry the best of traditional with modern teaching methods. To this end, one period a day is still devoted to the basic skills attained from the "three R's" whilst the expanded curriculum now includes the core subjects:
