Facilities

Nursery
They aim to make the transition from home to nursery as happy and as easy as possible for both you and your child. The nursery is situated in the old Manor House, which dates back to 1862. They have several different rooms in our Nursery. There are dedicated to babies and toddlers from 2 months until approximately 1½ years of age and further rooms forlittle children from approximately 1½ to 3 years. Each room is warm and cosy, yet bright and full of colour, and appropriately equipped for the age group in that room.

Pre-Prep
The Pre-Prep Department (3 – 7 year olds) includes Classes 3 and 4, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.  Class 3 can be found in the Manor House and Classes 4 to 7 (Pre-Reception to Year 2) are situated in the main school building. They have an ongoing commitment to a broad and creative curriculum, encouraging active learning both within our bright and stimulating classrooms and outdoors in the lovely school grounds. All classrooms in the department have direct access to outdoor play areas. These, together with our environmental studies garden, The Spinney, allow opportunities to take learning outdoors as much as possible.

Prep
The transition to the Prep Department marks the next exciting stage of your child’s education.  Here the pupils’ learning is extended and enhanced with the introduction of specialist teachers in all subjects, who provide an outstanding education.Within the Preparatory Department, we understand that every child is unique and so strive to build confident and enthusiastic learners through a broad variety of learning experiences. We provide academic rigour in all of the core subject areas, and through additional subjects such as Current Affairs, Well-being, Environmental Studies, Languages, Computer Technology Studies and PE, every individual is encouraged and challenged to achieve their very best.

Things to note

Remote Learning
They were able to adapt and evolve our provision very quickly, children did not miss a day of teaching and learning! They have been vigilant and highly organised with the communication to parents, revising timetables and zoom codes weekly, and offering extracurricular workshops from outside sources, and providing many pre-recorded and live shared assemblies.Via a combination of Google Classroom and Zoom, we provided a full, live online teaching timetable for all of our children, with maths and English every day, and foundation subjects throughout the week, including music, art and PE with our subject specialist teachers. We were able to deliver a full curriculum to all pupils, whether they were learning from home, overseas, or the children of critical workers in school.

Art Room
The Art Studio can be found in our beautiful orangery.  It is filled with nature and light and has wall to wall examples of the wonderful pieces of art our pupils create. At Broughton Manor, the children are inspired, engaged and challenged. They explore their own ideas, become accomplished at drawing, painting and sculpture and learn about great artists and designers.

Libraries
They aim to encourage and develop students’ literacy and reading for pleasure by providing fiction resources across a wide range of interest and ability levels. Our libraries are crucial to promoting high-quality reading and learning opportunities for all our children; we provide the most up to date resources and a range of literature.

Music Studios
The Preparatory Department and Pre-Preparatory Departments each have their own dedicated music studio; these are large spaces, perfect for performance. As a great deal of the learning is practical, we have a wide range of classroom instruments including keyboards, percussion, acoustic and electric guitars. Children are also encouraged to use their own instruments if they are able.

Outdoor Play Areas
The outdoor play areas are designed for all age groups and abilities. Providing an environment for children to engage and interact through imaginative play, they are essential to successful development. The Nursery and Preparatory School are set within beautiful grounds. Immediately outside the Manor House is an astroturf area, suitable for outdoor play all year round.  Here you will find beach huts and sand play, a market role play area and train.
