| N/A | At Waverley, we understand that choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you can make as a parent, and a very personal one. We therefore invite all prospective parents for 1-2-1 tours, rather than holding Open Mornings. We find personal tours are much more productive and informative for prospective school parents and enable parents to freely ask questions that are most pertinent for their own personal school search. Please contact our Admissions Dept at [email protected] or call 0118 973 1121 (mob 07768 708743). Once prospective parents have had a 1-2-1 tour, then parents and the prospective pupil are normally invited to meet our Head, Mr Shore. Should both parties feel that Waverley is the right fit for the prospective pupil, then applications are put to our School Admissions Committee which allocates places. Reception 2023: Update Very limited final places are still available for Reception 2023. Prompt application is highly advised. Reception 2024: Update Places are currently being allocated. A limited number of places only are still available. Reception 2025: Update Places are now being allocated. Parents are invited to register their child to start in September 2025. A co-educational private school for children aged 3 months to 11 years, we offer exceptional academic performance in a warm, nurturing, family-friendly environment. With small class sizes and single form entry (one class per year group), Waverley provides a superb individual education for every child. All our rankings are based on the academic results of our Year 6 pupils
Nursery
Waverley Day Nursery offers excellent childcare in a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment for the very young. We care for children from 3 months to 5 years with a focus on stimulating, developmental learning through play. Our childcare provision is extremely flexible with a choice of drop-off and collection times between 7.30am and 6pm for either term-time only or 51 weeks a year.
Prep School
The Pre-Prep School, for children aged 4-7 years, and our Prep School, for children aged 7-11 years, are renowned for their academic excellence yet nurturing, family feel. As your child enters Waverley School, focus will be on developing their reading, writing and number skills. Children however, are also introduced to a broader curriculum of subjects taught by specialist teachers such as ICT (Information Computer Technology), Art, History, Geography, Science, Music and Languages. They are also introduced to a broader spectrum of activities, sports and field trips and expeditions to enrich their education.
Main School
The bespoke facilities enable our curriculum to be delivered innovatively and effectively, making Waverley an exciting place to learn. We have a networked ICT suite with touch screens, a library, a Science, DT and Art room, music rooms, home economic facilities, two halls and a playing field. In the Preparatory Department children are taught by specialist teachers in Art, Games, ICT, Music, Science and French. Swimming lessons are taught weekly from Year 1 to Year 6.
Activities Beyond the School Curriculum
During the school day, children are able to enjoy a wide variety of sporting, musical and peripatetic activities which are above and beyond the regular school curriculum. These nurture children's interests and talents and we believe lead to children who feel confident and fulfilled, with a broad span of interests to carry them through school and throughout their lives. Activities include dance, speech & drama, piano, guitar, rugby, cricket, netball, swimming and many more.
Sport
Opportunities are aplenty at Waverley and pupils have up to four timetabled hours of sport each week. The traditional Prep School sports of Football, Rugby, Cricket, Netball, Hockey and Rounders form the basis of our Games curriculum in Years 3 – 6. Pupils also have an additional Physical Education lesson each week where physical literacy is taught through sports such as Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, Basketball, Tennis, Badminton and Dodgeball. In addition to Games and PE, all pupils in Year 1 – Year 4 also have a weekly Swimming lesson, taught by specialist swimming teachers.
Forest School
At Waverley, we place a strong emphasis on taking education outdoors to offer children unusual and fun ways of learning. Often referred to as ‘Forest School’, outdoor learning provides an alternative way to teach children a diverse range of topics in a non-classroom setting. Forest School is taught to children by our qualified, trained Forest School Teachers. For under 4’s, Forest School takes the form of daily woodland walks.
