Facilities

Nursery
Waverley Day Nursery offers excellent childcare in a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment for the very young. We care for children from 3 months to 5 years with a focus on stimulating, developmental learning through play. Our childcare provision is extremely flexible with a choice of drop-off and collection times between 7.30am and 6pm for either term-time only or 51 weeks a year.

Prep School
The Pre-Prep School, for children aged 4-7 years, and our Prep School, for children aged 7-11 years, are renowned for their academic excellence yet nurturing, family feel. As your child enters Waverley School, focus will be on developing their reading, writing and number skills. Children however, are also introduced to a broader curriculum of subjects taught by specialist teachers such as ICT (Information Computer Technology), Art, History, Geography, Science, Music and Languages. They are also introduced to a broader spectrum of activities, sports and field trips and expeditions to enrich their education.

Main School
The bespoke facilities enable our curriculum to be delivered innovatively and effectively, making Waverley an exciting place to learn. We have a networked ICT suite with touch screens, a library, a Science, DT and Art room, music rooms, home economic facilities, two halls and a playing field. Things to note

Activities Beyond the School Curriculum
During the school day, children are able to enjoy a wide variety of sporting, musical and peripatetic activities which are above and beyond the regular school curriculum. These nurture children's interests and talents and we believe lead to children who feel confident and fulfilled, with a broad span of interests to carry them through school and throughout their lives. Activities include dance, speech & drama, piano, guitar, rugby, cricket, netball, swimming and many more.

Sport
Opportunities are aplenty at Waverley and pupils have up to four timetabled hours of sport each week. The traditional Prep School sports of Football, Rugby, Cricket, Netball, Hockey and Rounders form the basis of our Games curriculum in Years 3 – 6. Pupils also have an additional Physical Education lesson each week where physical literacy is taught through sports such as Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, Basketball, Tennis, Badminton and Dodgeball. In addition to Games and PE, all pupils in Year 1 – Year 4 also have a weekly Swimming lesson, taught by specialist swimming teachers.

Forest School
At Waverley, we place a strong emphasis on taking education outdoors to offer children unusual and fun ways of learning. Often referred to as ‘Forest School’, outdoor learning provides an alternative way to teach children a diverse range of topics in a non-classroom setting. Forest School is taught to children by our qualified, trained Forest School Teachers. For under 4’s, Forest School takes the form of daily woodland walks.

Admission Details

Our admissions process for School is as follows.

  • All prospective parents for School and Nursery are first invited to register their interest via our electronic Registration Form. Please note that there is no charge to register your interest. Please contact our Admissions team on [email protected]. Alternatively, our Registration Form can be accessed by clicking on the button below.
  • Depending on the year of entry and availability of places, prospective families will then be invited for a personal 1-2-1 virtual (via WhatsApp, FaceTime or Zoom) or physical tour with our Head of Admissions.
  • We no longer hold Open Mornings but prefer to invite parents for 1-2-1 tours. We find personal tours are much more productive and informative for prospective school parents.
  • We would normally request the sight of the most recent school report for the prospective pupil and/or speak to the child's current school or Nursery.
  • After a 1-2-1 tour with our Head of Admissions, parents and the prospective pupil are invited to have a meeting with our Head. Meeting our Head may take place as a virtual call depending on the location of the prospective family.
  • Taster Day: Children are normally invited to attend a Taster Day at the School if we have a place available.
