They feel inspired and privileged to lead The Holt, to work alongside our dedicated colleagues, to care for our students, to create opportunities for them to flourish academically and to form their good character. When the students leave us, we want them to be self-confident, to know how to build and sustain strong relationships, to have high aspirations and to have achieved their very best. The Holt is forward looking and ambitious, whilst at the same time upholding traditional values. We offer excellent teaching, rich learning opportunities, a consistent and rigorous learning culture and with an emphasis on student well-being and development.
Curriculum
They want to send the students into the world having self-confidence, knowing how to build and sustain strong relationships, having high aspirations and having achieved their very best. While they are with us, we will encourage, equip and expect students to be kind, aim high, and work hard. To meet this vision for the school, we offer a curriculum that is broad, balanced and rigorous. The curriculum covers a wide range of disciplines to enable our students to flourish academically. It supports students to become cultured citizens, prepared for responsible adulthood, taking with them the good character of stoicism, gratitude and humility that will impact positively on their own lives and those of others to make for a better world.
KS4 Options
In Year 9, students choose their GCSE options for KS4. The process starts in January with our student and parent information evening. In addition, each student has a one-to-one meeting with a member of the Senior Leadership Team or their Head of Year.
Home Learning
At The Holt we encourage all of our students to be: independent and resilient learners; able to take responsibility for their own learning and learn from feedback, active learners who participate fully in the learning process by working hard, asking questions and learning from their mistakes, progressive learners, who use their knowledge to make links with new ideas, creative and original thinkers.
