The Manor Preparatory School

Description

The Manor Preparatory School is Independent Primary school in Oxfordshire for kids aged 2 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

Welcome to The Manor! The beautiful Georgian Manor House sits in the centre of a 9 acre site on the outskirts of Abingdon, about 9 miles south of Oxford and 8 miles north-west of Didcot. They are an independent co-educational day school that welcomes boys and girls aged 2-11.They live in rapidly changing times. As a prep school we have a duty to equip our children with knowledge as well as skills which will prepare them for life in the 21st century. Alongside academic rigour, we encourage curiosity and creativity. Our role is not only to prepare our children thoroughly for the exam process that they face at 11+ but also, every bit as important, to prepare our children for the future. This is about developing their self confidence and their willingness to face challenges and to take risks. They recognise every child as an individual; we want them to reach their potential and exceed it. We aim to provide opportunities for every young person in our care to find what they love to do, to be celebrated for it and to recognise it as a strength. Those opportunities abound in Music, Sport, Creative and Performing Arts as well as in a balanced, broad, inspiring, challenging and exciting academic curriculum.

Early Years
Early Years at The Manor has its children at the heart of all we do. We promise a warm and loving atmosphere where children can reach their full potential during their very important early years. Each classroom is designed to ensure the children make progress in all areas of learning. We are passionate about providing high quality play experiences that inspire and motivate the children so they can all progress at their own rate and also direct their own learning in a creative and imaginative way.

Pre-Prep
In Pre-Prep we build on the knowledge children have gained in the Early Years, and the children continue to enjoy specialist lessons for Music, PE and Games, French, Library and Drama. In Year 2 the children also have DT and Cookery lessons with specialist teachers as well. They follow a creative curriculum to stimulate the children’s interests and learning through different topics. We promote being part of a team and working together and I believe this is very evident throughout Pre-Prep. Kindness is valued, practised and taught which inspires children to have a go and learn from their mistakes. We encourage resilience and increasing levels of independence within a safe and caring environment.

Prep
The Prep Department at The Manor encompasses Years 3 to 6. The children cover a broad and challenging curriculum, enriched with residential trips, outings, sporting opportunities, exploration of the Arts and a host of clubs to take part in. These activities contribute to each child’s resilience and personal development allowing them to become well-equipped for the future. We take great pride in preparing the Year 6 children thoroughly for their senior school exams which take place in the Autumn and Spring terms of their final year.
