Abingdon is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys aged 11-18, with a Prep School for boys aged 4-13.
Facilities
The Amey Theatre sits at the heart of the School’s Arts Centre and comprises a 446 seat auditorium with fully raked seating and balcony.
There is a chapel.
With WIFI to support up to 150 devices simultaneously, cloud-based printing and numerous charging points for laptops and tablets, the library also helps students make the most of the school’s bring-your-own device policy.
The Sports Centre provides extensive, high quality sports facilities.The sports hall accommodates multi-sport activities including badminton, volleyball, basketball, indoor hockey and has space for four cricket lanes. There are two squash courts, two fitness suites, a climbing wall and a martial arts and fencing studio with five competition pistes.
The Yang Science Centre houses 21 teaching laboratories, study areas, project rooms and preparatory rooms. At the heart of the building is an inspirational sculpture designed and built by sculptor Matthew Lane Sanderson.

Music-making is integral to life at Abingdon and is reflected in the range and variety of activities available through the Other Half. There are plenty of opportunities to perform: from our showcase concerts, for the most able musicians at Christmas and at the end of the year, to occasions for the lower school strings, bands and choir to take to the stage.

The main points of entry are at age 11 (First Year), age 13 (Third Year) and age 16 (Sixth Form) and they have both weekly boarding and full boarding from the age of 13. Candidates slightly older or younger may be accepted at these points of entry at the Head’s discretion; each case is considered individually. There is no regular entry at other ages, but occasional vacancies arise at age 12 (Second Year) and age 14 (Fourth Year) and the Director of Admissions will consider applications for these specific age groups.
