Facilities

Reception and Year 1 - Leo Class
The Reception/Yr 1 'Leo' class is taught by Mrs Charley Wherrett and Miss Beth Clark, Children’s learning is supported by Mrs Becky Amos and Miss Naomi Brewerton. In Leo class we follow a play based curriculum, following the children's interests and ideas. Children learn most effectively through play, so they provide a rich and creative environment in which the children can learn and develop. As well as plenty of child-led learning, we also provide opportunities for children to learn through play and activities which are guided by adults.

Year 1 and Year 2 - Taurus Class
The Year 1 and Year 2 'Taurus' class teachers are Mr Hamish Blair. Children’s learning is supported by Ms Aleeza Altaf. Taurus class have lots of exciting enquiry-based learning in our first two terms this year. As Historians we will be asking 'How could they play in different ways?', looking at how playground games have changed from the grandparents' childhood to our own. As Scientists and Engineers, they will be asking 'What could my classroom be made of?', exploring the properties of a range of materials and testing them to decide which would be most suitable to use to build a new outdoor reading area in our school.

Year 3 and Year 4 - Aries Class
The Year 3 and 4 'Aries' class teachers are Miss Clare Hume and Mrs Cat Kupai. Children’s learning is supported by Mr Leo Bunting. Aries class have an exciting year ahead planned with our Enquiry based learning. They will be Artists in our 'What is creativity?' question, inspired by famous artists local to Bristol such as Zoe Power and Graft, who are two graffiti artist parents at our school. We will become Historians during our  'Why do they live here?' Enquiry, where we will compare the significance of the River Avon to Bristolians with that of the Nile to the Egyptians and how it led to their success. Also, throughout our question 'Why are more people becoming vegetarian?' We will spend an entire term, growing and cooking vegetarian dishes , they will use what is seasonal and take part in cooking competitions where they can show off the creativity and knowledge about food that is good for our bodies- Master Chef watch this space!
