Independent Jewish Day School Academy is a State Primary school for kids aged 4 to 11 (Gender - Mixed). IJDS Academy, a Jewish Modern Orthodox school based in the heart of Hendon.
Curriculum: At IJDS, they place equal emphasis on kodesh and chol seamlessly complimenting each other. They ensure that every pupil has the confidence to exist as a proud practising Jew whilst making their own individual contributions to secular society, alongside a deep love and respect for Erez Israel. The Chol (Secular) Curriculum is mapped out to include coverage of the NC and prepares and equips children with the knowledge, skills and understanding for life in modern Britain. The curriculum is designed to challenge, engage and motivate with the ultimate goal that the learners progress academically, becoming successful, confident individuals who contribute positively to the community now and in the future. Where possible, topics are arranged to enhance teaching and learning in a wider context by matching the topic to key times in the Jewish festival calendar.
Inclusion: They at IJDS believe that each pupil has individual and unique needs. However, some pupils require more support than others to achieve their full potential. They acknowledge that a significant proportion of pupils will have special educational needs (SEND) at some time in their school career. Many of these pupils may require help throughout their time in school, while others may need a little extra support for a short period to help them overcome more temporary needs. If these pupils are to achieve their full potential, we must recognise this and plan accordingly. The Independent Jewish Day School aims to provide all pupils with strategies for dealing with their needs in a supportive and caring environment, and to give them meaningful access to the National and Kodesh Curriculums.
