Curriculum
Hayesfield is a comprehensive girls’ school, taking girls from the City of Bath and its surrounding rural towns and villages. As our students arrive with a wide range of experiences of primary education, our curriculum at Hayesfield is designed to ensure that all students can achieve their personal best and develop their individual character. They do this by quickly identifying and then addressing the specific needs of each of our learners. A large number of students come to Hayesfield having attained highly by the end of Key Stage 2 but they also serve a smaller group of students who are lower ability on entry. Thus they aim to exceed the National Curriculum requirements at Key Stage 3 and provide the students with a rich and varied diet of academic and vocational qualifications, which are the cornerstone of educational success, at Key Stage 4.

Things to note

Enriching Learning
Enrichment activities are central to provision of all subjects in the performance and arts faculty. All activities have open access to all students and inclusivity is important to us. Students work across year groups breaking down the barriers between the older and younger students. The activities they do inspire confidence and understanding and students have many opportunities to be leaders.

Music
The Music department, part of the beating heart of Hayesfield, delivers a broad and ambitious curriculum with a strong focus on practical music making. We seek to develop the core skills of singing, performing, composing and listening and through this engender a lifelong love of music and an understanding of how music works. Students will also have their eyes opened to the wide variety or career choices available within music and through music. Many careers in music can be perceived as having a gender bias. As a girls’ school, Hayesfield ensures that these biases are broken down in order that all students see all music paths as relevant and accessible should they so choose.
