The school’s aim is, quite simply, to have happy, secure children achieving their academic potential and, at the same time, enjoying a wide curriculum and an extensive variety of extra-curricular activities. The website gives a general picture of how they strive to achieve the aim, but there is no substitute for a visit which will enable you to experience the school’s working day and the positive, caring environment in which the children learn and develop. Over the years, prospective parents shown round have all concluded that it is the best way to determine the suitability of the school for their child.

Curriculum
The curriculum of the school is designed to create well-rounded children. Thus, whilst 50% of the curriculum is devoted to the core subjects of maths, English and science, all children have weekly lessons in drama, music, dance, art and design, computing, history, geography, French, Spanish, ethics, physical education/games and Latin in year 6. Additionally, the school offers a range of extra-curricular activities including a dance club, fencing, chess, sewing, gardening, choir, orchestra, a range of sports, and outdoor pursuit holidays.

Remote Learning
In the summer holiday of 2020, in preparation for possible further school closures, the staff attended a course on Microsoft Teams. As a consequence, when the school was compelled to close in January 2021, other than for the children of key workers, the school was fully prepared. All parents acknowledged the success of what the school offered.
