Clitheroe Royal Grammar School is leading State Secondary school in Clitheroe. This is a Selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Mixed

They are extremely proud of the Main School at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and the outstanding achievements of our students. We are committed to providing a supportive, challenging and stimulating learning environment where students are able to make outstanding progress and achieve academic excellence. They firmly believe that in order to fulfil their potential, young people must feel safe, secure and supported at school. Our strong pastoral systems and caring ethos help to ensure that our students feel valued as individuals and yet part of a strong, diverse learning community. They encourage students to act with responsibility and consider the impact of their actions on others. As a result, student voice surveys consistently report positively about the caring school community and how, as a relatively small secondary school, students feel valued, known and respected. In addition, students are encouraged to fulfil leadership roles within our school and there are opportunities for this in every year group

Curriculum
The curriculum at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School reflects our philosophy and aims to encourage students to:
Develop lively, enquiring minds capable of original thought and well-balanced critical argument.
Become confident, independent learners well-equipped for lifelong learning.
Derive enjoyment from their learning which should extend their intellectual capacity, develop their interest and stimulate their curiosity.
Embrace the many opportunities afforded by developments in information and communication technologies, whilst fully accepting the responsibilities that go with using them properly.
Engage in a broad programme of experiences which enable them to appreciate their cultural inheritance and understand more about themselves and the world in which they live.
Develop the capacities to make informed, rational and responsible decisions and to work in ways which enhance their self-respect and sensitivity to the needs of others, particularly those less advantaged than themselves.
Develop a range of reasoned beliefs and values and a sympathy and respect for those held by others, which will prepare them to become considerate and responsible citizens.

Sixth Form
Joining the CRGS Sixth Form gives students the opportunity to develop themselves as successful independent learners within a supportive school environment, based on our Sixth Form site at York Street. We have 680 students in our Sixth Form from over 45 secondary schools. CRGS Sixth Form offers students a fresh start and the opportunity to excel within an aspirational and inspirational learning environment. Our Sixth Form has a friendly, welcoming and open atmosphere that visitors to our school will quickly notice.

Extra Curricular
They offer an extensive range of extra-curricular activities and we encourage students to take full advantage of these opportunities. They are fortunate in having a talented and committed staff who give so generously of their time to support students in activities outside the classroom. There are team activities, individual pursuits, trips and residential visits covering many aspects of the curriculum to enrich students’ education and personal development. A current programme of lunchtime and afterschool activities can be found below. This is updated each half term.
