The Davenport School is Independent Primary school in Kent for kids aged 5 to 12 (Gender - Mixed )
The Davenport School is situated in its own grounds on the edge of a rural village, near the historic town of Sandwich. The Davenport School if registered by the DfE for 20 children (aged 5-12) of mixed abilities, who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of the children come to us having experienced a level of trauma and with attachment related history. Often these early experiences have meant a very disrupted educational experience and our expertise means that they are able to provide an educational approach that will enable the children to make progress in all areas of their well-being as well as academic progress. The aim of The Davenport School is to provide a child centred environment that meets the individual learning needs of all students. We do this through a varied and creative curriculum that develops physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills. Lessons are made fun and interactive with a focus on emotional development and with a teacher and high ratio of learning support staff in each class, children are given the care and support they need.
Curriculum
At The Davenport School, they offer a diverse curriculum designed to enable us to meet the needs of all our students. They follow the key objectives within the Literacy and Numeracy National Curriculum on a daily basis, and pupils are challenged and supported to enable them to reach their full potential. All lessons are made fun and interactive with a key focus of being student led. In the afternoons we teach a variety of topic lessons such as geography, history, art and D&T via practical activities where possible, and using different genres to allow all children to showcase their talents and interests; this is also in conjunction with literacy to enable all learning styles to be met. They also encourage more physical and practical topics such as PE and PSHE giving the children the opportunities to experience a wide range of topics throughout the week.
SEND & Speech & Language Therapy

They have a qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who works closely with the SENCO, staff and students. The Speech and Language Therapist works on a one to one or small group basis with students who have communication difficulties.
