St John's Preparatory and Senior School

Description

St John's Preparatory and Senior School is Independent Secondary school in Selective for kids aged 3 to 19 (Gender - 3 to 19 )

St. John's is a co-educational day school situated in a total of 28 acres of green belt countryside, taking pupils from the age of 3 years old up through the Seniors to G.C.S.E. and 'A' levels. The school is on two separate sites. Prep. is separated from the Seniors by less than half a mile, yet they are one school. The smiling faces, the scenes of musical performance, football, netball and other games in any prospectus are the standard images we have come to expect from a school’s website. Indeed, these activities are essential to an effective and happy learning environment. Nevertheless, in addition to these activities, the essential purpose of a school must always be to provide our boys and girls with a fine education which equips them for the demands of a successful future in the world outside. We hope you will see that this is evident from the following web pages and our prospectus

Facilities

Early Years
The nursery class will be based in the newly built school extension. The children will have their own specially designed indoor space and designated outdoor area. They will be cared for in a high ratio of staff to children. Children will be able to join the nursery class the term after their third birthday. The early years are critical in a child's development and our aim is to provide the highest quality of education in a stimulating and supportive learning environment, enabling each child to flourish and reach their potential.

Senior
Art at St. John's Senior School is one of the most popular subjects. Pupils of all age group enjoy a wide range of art materials to create their ideas, producing sculptures in clay, wood, modroc, papier-mâché and many found natural and man-made objects. The emphasis in the lower school is leaning to draw and paint skilfully from direct observation. Once this skill has been mastered to a good standard, pupils can branch out and develop their work and ideas into poly and lino printing, scraffigto, ink, pastels, paint collage and into sculptural forms. The lower school have entered several nationwide Art competitions winning art prizes both for themselves and prize money and computer equipment for the school. They have many talented young artists whose skill is nurtured and developed to an extremely high standard as proven by their exam results. My last G.C.S.E. group all gained A*, four of these pupils achieved 100% and the others all gained over 98%!The AS level pupils were marked at 96% plus also achieving the top grade. Each year several pupils go on to study Art degrees. In June we regularly invite parents, pupils and friends to our very exciting Summer Art Exhibition where you can view some absolutely stunning artwork of a very professional standard.
