Lochinver House School is Independent Secondary school in Selective for kids aged 4 to 13 (Gender - 4 to 13 )
Lochinver House is an independent school for boys aged 4-13 years where they believe that each child is uniquely gifted. Through our broad and ambitious curriculum, outstanding facilities and inspiring teachers, they look upon each pupil as an individual providing them with the skills and resilience to succeed in whatever path they choose to take. They believe that education should be a stimulating learning journey that is full of fun, enriched by challenge and of lasting value. When your child joins Lochinver House School, this journey is founded upon a close and constructive partnership between home and school. They will work closely with you to give your child every possible opportunity to improve and to rise to new challenges. Good education will always be based around a combination of traditional teaching methods and modern technologies, but at Lochinver they go further than this to provide an all-round education that will be exciting, challenging and stimulating. The motto ‘to persevere is to succeed’ acknowledges that strength of character must be allied to developing talent in order to thrive in the dynamic and challenging world of the 21st century.
PRE PREP
Childhood is precious; we believe passionately in educating the whole child and in education in the fullest sense. The Pre-prep is a very special place for boys aged 4-7. It is friendly and purposeful, and sited in its own purpose-built building in the heart of the School. They have six classes, two in each year group. We kindle curiosity, promote collaboration, focus and originality and capture imaginations, giving our boys a life-long love of learning in all its forms. The boys demonstrate kindness, respect and honesty. The caring atmosphere enables them to flourish. They have the confidence to take risks, to embrace opportunity, to be reflective, to show initiative and enjoy their journey of self-discovery. They are proud of their achievements and do their best, to be their best, at all times.
PREP
When the boys move into Years 3 and 4 they are taught in their classrooms for most of their lessons but have specialist teaching for Sport, Drama, Art, Music, Drama, PE and Games, Computing and Digital Learning, Design Technology, French, and Lab Science. Boys in both year groups are placed in ability sets for Maths. As the boys enter Year 5, Lochinver House operates like a senior school. Form Tutors are introduced and boys are taught entirely by our team of subject specialist teachers. The boys visit their form rooms for registration and PSHEE, Citizenship and Careers and move to subject-specific classrooms for lessons. The curriculum is designed specifically to suit boys, to extend and enrich learning at all levels, and to prepare them for 11+ and 13+ entry to senior schools.
