Manor Lodge School is Independent Primary school in Hertfordshire for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Manor Lodge School is an independent primary school for children aged 4 – 11 years old, located in Shenley, Hertfordshire. There is a nursery for children aged 3 and above who have older siblings at the school. We have outstanding academic success and a strong reputation for music, drama and sport. We have a beautiful site in open countryside, nestling within fields, woodland and wildlife – but only 1 mile from Junction 22 of the M25 and within easy reach of local towns. It is a perfect setting to create lifelong memories of a secure childhood surrounded by space and freedom.
NURSERY
The Nursery is for 3 – 4 year old siblings of current pupils, and is based around morning and afternoon sessions. It is housed in a fully equipped separate building close to the main school with its own garden and safe play area. Opportunities to meet the other infants and staff are available during the term, so that integration into the main school is made easy. The classrooms are bright, cheerful and always full of fun. Children are taught individually, in small and whole class groups. The class works on themes throughout the term, using the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. These themes allow the children to learn by building on their own interests and their understanding of the world.
INFANTS
Life at Manor Lodge School in the Early Years setting is full of opportunities. Each day is busy, stimulating and varied. They offer small classes where a child’s potential can be realised within a happy, friendly, caring community, enabling their self-esteem and confidence to grow. The aim is to provide a nurturing, educational environment within an atmosphere of praise and encouragement. We pride ourselves in providing excellent pastoral care for our pupils.
JUNIORS
All the children are expected to progress from the Infant Department into the Juniors at the end of Year 2. Here the teaching becomes increasingly subject based. The form teacher acts as a personal tutor to the children in their class and is in close contact with the parents. He or she, together with the specialist teachers, will help your child to learn at an appropriate pace, independently and collaboratively applying knowledge and skills already acquired.
OUTDOOR LEARNING
With our pupils’ health and well-being being paramount in all that we do at Manor Lodge, the Japanese Garden plays an important role in this area. Here, lessons based on Mindfulness, positive Growth Mindset and PSHEE are held weekly and this ‘Space to Be’ Japanese Garden is an area that all children can use during break time should they wish to be reflective and meditative. Created by the Manor Lodge parents and staff, the Japanese Garden is a focal point within the grounds of the school and there is the Sail Classroom that enables lessons to still take place during inclement weather.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The most important reason for going to school is to learn. However, they know that there is more to school than just lessons, and they provide an extensive range of clubs and activities for the children to try. They run an extensive range of clubs and activities within the school week for Years 1 to 6.
