Radlett Lodge School is Independent Secondary school in Selective for kids aged 4 to 19 (Gender - 4 to 19 )
As the Principal of Radlett Lodge School and residential provision for children aged 4-19 with autism and additional needs, They are delighted to be leading such a forward thinking, inclusive school which embraces and promotes the values of the National Autistic Society ensuring that we create a society that works for autistic people. Radlett Lodge is a small school with just 55 pupils. This means staff and pupils get to know each other well. They develop trusting relationships which in turn make sure that our young people are equipped to make their own choices in life and have the chance to be as independent as they want to be. At Radlett Lodge they celebrate the achievements of all of our pupils and recognise that what some might see as a tiny step can be the biggest of challenges. Every Friday, they have a special assembly for the whole school where they mark individual celebrations (birthdays, academic or social success, personal developments) as well as cultural and public celebrations, considering how they reflect the British values.
Curriculum
Radlett Lodge School welcomes children on the autism spectrum from the ages of 4 to 19. They are really pleased to offer early years provision because early intervention can make a huge difference. Whatever age your child is when they join them, we look at them as an individual and design a curriculum and timetable that suits their needs, interests and skills. They begin by teaching your child how to learn, which might include learning to sit, pay attention, wait, and take turns. With this foundation, your child can gain social skills, understand their autism, look at anger management, and build self esteem, as well as learn academic, vocational and life skills. The therapists play an extremely important role in planning your child’s learning. For example, they design the teaching according to your child’s sensory strengths, and plan activities and approaches to help them to develop all their senses, perhaps through messy play or desensitisation work.
Everyone who works at Radlett Lodge School is completely committed to providing your child with the highest level of autism-specific education. We work as a team and are driven by our values and our belief that our pupils deserve the very best. They are tireless in our pursuit of excellence. The school’s vision is to provide highest quality individualised education and care to children with autism through their time at school.
