At Southend High School for Boys, talent is nurtured and learning is valued. Challenge is welcomed, participation is expected and achievement is prized. Pupils are happy, and prosper at the school. As a grammar school, high academic expectations are central to our purpose, and these are sustained through an extensive programme of support and guidance. Pupils develop their confidence and enthusiasm through a wide range of creative, sporting and other endeavours

Sixth Form
The Sixth Form years are the most exciting and inspiring phase of your school education. The Sixth Form at Southend High School for Boys is a community of around 365 students. It is a warm and down-to-earth environment centred in a separate, purpose-built, building which was opened in 1998. We have a spacious common room with its own designated canteen, various study rooms, ICT suite and a fabulous new library.

There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities offered at SHSB and pupils are encouraged to join at least one of the activities when they join in Year 7.
