Pownall Hall School is Independent Primary school in Cheshire East for kids aged 0 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
As a preparatory school, they thoroughly prepare our pupils for the top performing independent schools in the North West. The ‘up-levelled’ core curriculum allows pupils to aspire and achieve the results required to attend the very best academic schools in the region. This combined with a rich and diverse range of specialist taught subjects means that they provide the very best academic opportunities possible: science in our laboratory, art and design and design technology in the studio, music and drama in the very own Boddington theatre, three languages and extensive grounds, an astro and a sports hall for the specialist PE and Games lessons. The co-curricular programme of wellbeing, mental health and growth mindset enables us to educate the whole child, developing them both socially and emotionally to become curious, hard-working, aspirational, inquisitive, kind and caring children.
Nursery
The Early Years department has embraced the Danish way of living, which is known as Hygge (pronounced hue-guh). It’s a word used to promote a feeling or moment, ordinary or extraordinary as cosy, charming or special. It’s about creating learning environments that promote emotional well-being, togetherness and friendship.Children at Pownall Hall School begin their journey, from 6 months within our Woodland Nursery, where they will embark on a journey of discovery and will build the foundations for a lifelong love of learning.
Pre Prep
The Pre-Prep at Pownall Hall school is truly an exciting place to be, where children have so much fun that they don’t even realise that they are learning so much! The children have full access to all the wonderful facilities and beautiful extensive grounds, so pupils as young as Reception can become real scientists in our Science lab and feel adventurous in the magical Forest School.Children are taught specialist lessons such as Music and P.E. by specialist teachers that nurture children’s skills and talents by infusing their passion and love of their specialist subject. The French teacher originates from Paris, so she teaches children how to speak with authentic French accents. The children are inspired to create artwork with fervour in the spectacular art room that is an inspiration because of the examples of artwork all around the room, as well as the historical significance of the building.
Prep
As pupils continue their journey through Pownall Hall School, at Form 3, they move through into the Prep. The children become much more independent in their learning and are able to take advantage of all that Pownall Hall School has to offer, it’s specialist teaching, extra-curricular activities, sports fixtures, trips and workshops that take place within school.Pupils move around the school to experience specialist subject teaching within dedicated subject classrooms such as the science lab, art room, DT room, music room as well as the sports hall and extensive grounds.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Pupils have the opportunity to take part in one of the 40 extra-curricular clubs, whether that be drama, lacrosse, cookery or horse-riding. We encourage all pupils to take part in at least one club every week. They are hugely beneficial as they allow pupils to take time from their studies, engage with a different group of friends and take time to relax and have fun.
Trips & Visits
Throughout the year, the curriculum is enhanced and extended with a variety of trips and educational visits. Children from Nursery through to year 6 enjoy a number of trips each year. These have included trips to Chester Zoo, York, Blue Planet as well as residential trips to Castleton in Derbyshire.
Before and After School Care
If you need to drop off early or pick up late, they’ve got it covered at Pownall with ‘Whizz Kids’. Open at 8am for preschool drop off and breakfast and providing after-school care, with a snack, till 6pm, you can relax knowing that your child is in a happy place and safe hands until you collect them. There are games and puzzles aplenty to keep your little person entertained and we often find that our children ask to go even when there is no need!
Selection Criteria: Selective
