2-13 Years

Description

Parkside School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 2 to 13 (Gender - 2 to 13 )

Parkside School is a wonderful environment where children’s curiosity is awakened. Their journey is one of discovery; where talents and passions are nurtured and developed, and the pupils are encouraged to embrace risk-taking and take responsibility for their learning. They develop the courage to rise to each challenge, persevere when the going gets tough and face their fears with confidence. They catch them when they fall, show them what they have learnt from this and guide them back on their individual journey; whilst instilling an appetite for embracing challenge. The positive message of 'make it happen’ underpins the whole approach to each pupil’s learning journey and becomes the driving force for success in whatever they aspire to achieve.

Facilities

Nursery
Parkside Nursery is the start of the educational and pastoral journey for boys and girls from the age of two as they experience the firmest of foundations taught by experienced staff in a truly stunning setting. The Nursery is housed in a safe, secure building with its own enclosed playground areas, large spacious classrooms, a library and music and drama room. The children also have access to all the facilities at Parkside and use of the 45 acres of stunning grounds. The transition to Reception (which is based in the Pre Prep department) is seamless as the boys have lunch with Pre Prep in the Salon, they join Reception for special events like concerts and EYFS assemblies. They also have regular taster mornings in the Reception classrooms to familiarise them with the environment.

Pre Prep
Parkside Pre Prep is for boys aged 4 -7. In this nurturing, child-centred environment, the aim is for all boys to reach their full potential across the curriculum so that they are ready to move into the Prep School as independent, resilient, happy and confident learners. With small classes of 14 and a high level of focused teaching involvement, supported by a teaching assistant, boys benefit from this emphasis and supportive attention, ensuring  their progress.Boys are taught creatively with hands-on practical experiences to ignite their passion for learning, develop curiosity and experience the joy of risk-taking. ‘Real-life’ learning is thoroughly enjoyable, engaging and promotes discursive learning.

Prep
The Prep School at Parkside is for boys aged 7-13. These exciting years are transformational. The young boys at the beginning of this journey in Year 3 become self-respecting, confident and happy young men as they leave at the end of Year 8; ready and well-equipped for senior school. The curriculum is designed to challenge, support and ignite a curiosity for learning. It is centred on the core values of PSB (Pre-Senior School Baccalaureate); focussing on transferable skills of learning rather than knowledge. Teaching the boys to develop the courage to take risks, embrace new opportunities, make links in their learning and become curious is at the very heart of how the pupils learn. The result is that boys  are equipped to tackle any task, no matter how unfamiliar, with commitment and the confidence required to achieve their very best. They encourage the boys to step out of their comfort zone and embrace challenge rather than fear it. This results in pupils leaving the Prep School as lifelong learners with passion, inquisitiveness, independence and above all, confidence.
