Longwood School is Independent Primary school in Hertfordshire for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Longwood is family run, with the business established in 1978. We are close to Bushey and Watford. Mrs Satoula Livesey, a maintained school headteacher, set up a number of day nurseries and playgroups in various locations in Bedfordshire and Middlesex in the late 1970's. At that time, there was little provision for such care and it was her drive and determination that saw Longwood and Rainbow Schools and Nurseries grow under her leadership.They have come a long way since then and continue to thrive having consolidated to Bushey with some key staff to one nursery, under the management of Miss Alison Lapihuska and a main school, under the leadership of our headteacher, Mrs Claire May. Our high standards have been recognised very much within the local community and by Ofsted since 1978.
Facilities
Pre-School
During the academic year of their fourth birthday, children will move out of the Nursery into one of our two Pre-school classes - Hillfield or Sarratt. Their learning journey continues under the EYFS framework but now they become part of the School where the children wear an appropriate version of the uniform, are included in the house system and participate in school assemblies.Child-initiated and adult-directed activities remain an important part of the timetable. French, Music & Movement and Music, are delivered by specialist teachers.
The Nursery
The Nursery caters for children from 3 months to 5 years. Children develop in enabling and rich learning environments, where each child's learning and development is enhanced by playful activities to encourage resilience, capability, confidence and self-assurance.Bright and airy separate areas for different age groups offer safe, stimulating and happy environments. A high staff/child ratio with qualified and well-motivated practitioners ensures a caring relationship between parents, babies/children and staff.

Music
They have a specialist music teacher at Longwood for two days a week. She teaches from Moatfield and Fisher children upwards. The children enjoy a variety of musical activities, both practical and theoretical.Many children have private lessons (piano, flute, voice) and we have an enthusiastic school choir.
