Liberty Woodland School is a school for the future. We embrace academic rigour, but not at the expense of the development of life and character skills which will give our young people access to any and all opportunities ahead of them in the future. The academically rigorous and challenging curriculum provides an educational foundation that supports the full range of skills that students will need as life-long learners and it is delivered alongside a culture full of trust, collaboration and joyful learning. Our approach to education is a commitment to an ethic of excellence with our highly tailored approach meaning we can truly personalise our student’s education to each of their specific needs and interests. Through our low ceiling and high threshold approach, every student enjoys and every child achieves.

Primary
Core skills are taught in small groups with 4-8 children per group. In each group all children are at exactly the same level of development, allowing learning to be highly targeted and focused. This allows rapid progress to be made alongside building confidence and a positive mindset for children in their abilities. Groups remain fluid to enable any children making accelerated progress to continue to be challenged through the zone of proximal development to achieve their best.

Seconday
They build strong learning habits through practice and reflection. Students are permitted to fail and to see failure as a learning opportunity. Reflecting upon our work allows us to refine the habits of giving and receiving feedback (being kind, specific and helpful) which helps prepare young people for the inevitable setbacks they will experience in life. Failure, or not performing as expected is an opportunity to get back up, reflect, strategize, try again and learn. We aim for reflection to become a habit and appreciate that often it takes multiple drafts of work to achieve our best work. Work which meets our ethic of excellence and our expectations of ourselves. We learn the correlation between growth mindset and success, because at Liberty Wood School, we are not just a school, we are a vision of what is possible.
