Curriculum
At Knollmead Primary School, they ensure the whole school curriculum is rich and rigorous, and designed with the pupils and community in mind. It is carefully planned and goes hand in hand with the commitment to effective, research based pedagogy and practice. The curriculum intent is as follows: To strive for all children to become fluent and effective readers to enable them to access the wider curriculum, develop a rich vocabulary and enjoy reading for pleasure and as a door to further learning.
SEND Provision
At Knollmead, they aim to create a learning environment which promotes challenge, encouragement, acceptance, respect for achievements, and sensitivity to individual needs.We identify those children with special educational needs as early as possible and quickly devise plans and strategies to meet their needs. These are monitored regularly with parents in line with our Special Educational Needs Policy.
Extra Curricular
At Knollmead we have a wide variety of clubs for the children to join in and enjoy, offering them exciting and varied opportunities. We have an extended school club held after school each day during term time. The clubs have enabled children to experience and participate in, for example: Art, Bible, Cooking, Puzzles, Writing, Reading, Gardening, Fitness, Football, Homework, ICT, Maths, Choir, First Aid and with others occasionally being introduced throughout the year.Year 6 have the opportunity to participate in a week long residential journey to Marchant’s Hill. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children and staff alike to enjoy the Centre, which provides excellent accommodation and meals and has excellent facilities for so many different activities! Each year the children return having had a wonderful and exciting time and eager to tell the rest of the school all about it in a special assembly!
